[Vic Viper] Felineki, I'm coming for your ass! >:D

My take on the Vic Viper from the Gradius series. It incorporates a lot of design features from canon Vic Vipers, as well as a pretty nice dose of this Avro Arrow MkVI design mixed with XF108 Rapier.

This is very much still a WIP.

Ah, but can the weapons and engines detach for upgrades on the fly?

...wat? Of course I've played Gradius! That's half the reason I'm designing this thing! LOL

No, you could never hope to become Felineki. You'd have to post GOFER in every testing thread ever and become annoyed around sex threads; something I can't ever imagine you doing.

Added upper vertical stabilizer fin and high-temperature alloys on leading edges. Also roughed out radome and cockpit, borrowing heavily from the F22 Raptor.

You know, it reminds me a lot of the YF-23 from Macross Plus, though with the addition of the forward protruding bits.

Still, nice work though.

You mean the YF-21? The YF-23 is a real plane, which sadly does not turn into a robot. (though I'm sure if it had it would have won the ATF contract).

The shape of the trailing edge of the wings is a little similar to the most common YF-21 look, but the YF-21/VF-22 can vary it's wing shape, so they don't always look like that. (Here's a pic of two production VF-22s with their wings in different configurations)

The YF-21's engines also stick out much further at the back. The wings actually terminate about 1/4 of the way from the back of the plane.

Ooh, that's very nice! I've actually thought about doing something similar to this (my pixel art skills are getting a bit rusty, it would make for a good exercise), I'll post it if I end up doing so.

The design's very interesting, it's recognizably the Vic Viper due to the dual protrusions on the front (do those things have a name?) and the fin, but the different wing shape gives it a look that's distinctly different from the original Viper.

Think you might draw the different weapon configurations? You know, the standard gun, laser, ripple, etc.?

Moved main guns to mandibles, added gatlings in their place on the wings.

Dammit Einy, get your lazy ass using Sketch-up!

You keep drawing top-down views and nothing else, you need to start drawing side views of all these things or join the 21st Century and move into the third dimension.

Viva La SIDE VIEW!

I also redid the engines to their final versions.

Touchup Time!

Added wing gatlings to side view and did up the radome, too.

See Ein, that's another person who told you to start using sketchup. The program is ridiculously easy for mechanical stuff.

I toldja guys, I already tried Sketchup and I didn't like it :P

Anyways...

Wheeeee!!

I thickened up the spine aft of the cockpit and added phased-array sensors in the catamaran bows.[/url]

EDIT: Fix URL...

Details Details :D

Modified: Moved Spittagunz a bit inboard; enlarged the lower underwing vertical stabilizer surfaces.

Added: Couple panels, small comm antennas both dorsal and ventral, and navigation lights!

And More Tweaking

Modified: Thickened up thermal-protection material on vertical stabilizers, moved Spittaguns upward (shortened their underwing mounts in the Z axis), revised intakes to a more realistic twin-duct design, and a few other tweaks.
