Photos From This Week's Adventures

Post by Wicked Pilot »

I got to fly two back to back off station missions this week. We left Friday for Memphis, Tennessee to support the Secret Service supporting Japan's Prime Minister's visit to Graceland. Basically we were taking their shit back to Quantico. After three days of that I left for the west coast to bring wounded veterans up from the massive cargo hub known as Travis AFB outside Sacramento, to McChord AFB outside Seattle, and Ft Wainwright in Fairbanks. These are my stories.

Japanese Air Force One leaving Memphis with Junichiro Koizumi on board. Had we'd landed maybe half an hour earlier we might have gotten to meet him.

That's the Secret Service motorcade

Flying west this is the Grand Canyon. Most of the area was overcast so there weren't any good pictures. If this photo doesn't prove creationism for you than I don't know what will.

For those of you unfamiliar with US Quarters, this is Crater Lake in Oregon.

Mt Rainer on approach into Tacoma, Washington.

Some of the Alaskan interior.

On the ground in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Mt McKinley off in the distance. Yeah, it's that big.

Pretty cool sight north of Juneau. Can't say for sure if it's in Alaska, British Columbia, or Yukon.

Also north of Juneau, featuring an Alaskan cruise ship. The water down there has got to be the bluest I have ever seen. Beats the shit out of that green/brown shit we've got off the Texas and Louisiana coast.

Coming out of Travis we decided to have some fun. It took a lot of coordinating, including a phone call to the NOCAL Approach supervisor, but..

If You're Lonely.... Go to San... Fran... cisco...

Cool pics of SF, I've never seen the Golden Gate Bridge from that angle before. Of course I've never been in anything but a commercial jet over the Bay and never that far north.

Hope Travis wasn't too hot for you.

It was much better than sweating my balls off in West Texas. Tuesday morning I even got to wear a jacket.

You missed out on a recent heatwave. The temps were over a 100 out by Travis but unlike West Texas, there is no humidity here. (I'm assuming its humid there.)

I really like the picture of Crater Lake and the cruise ship. I think I'm demented, whenever I see a cruise ship I think of a harpoon slamming into the side. Or some weapon tearing up the ship and causing pandamonium.
