Got sensor dust?

I'm not happy.

Here is a 100% crop from a sky shot on my 30D:

You notice what looks like a flock of birds? That is dust on the image sensor, on a pretty much brand new camera, which has only been openly exposed once, when I put the lens on straight from the box.

3 weeks worth of photos have significant ammounts of dust in the sky (although fortunately I don't shoot many landscapes!). I think a replacement body is in order...

Get a dust brush. *shrug* you can't avoid dust getting on the sensor, all you can do is clean it. You could probably pick one up at a pro photostore.

I'm aware that dust is an unavoidable fact of digital SLR life, but the above is most certainly excessive, especially on a new camera. I'm going to get a set of sensor swabs, and see if I can get it clean with those. Failing that, Canon can have it back - either to clean or replace it.

Anyone had any luck with this?

Only with the softests of hands. the sensor is not a ruged thing. and a heavy handed person sud not do this.

You don't actually touch the sensor, rather a glass filter over the top of it (to which a fair bit or pressure may alledgedly be applied).

I called where I bought the camera from today, and they said that I can send it to Canon to get it cleaned under warrenty. By the time I've paid postage, I'll be half way to a set of sensor cleaning kit, as well as loosing the camera for a period of time. So I think I'm just going to clean it.
