Ladies and gentlemen of the Internet, our esteemed moderators, I present to you the following.

On Sunday, July 30th, 2006 while in the Las Vegas Valley, within the city of North Las Vegas, I encountered the following. Something so vile, so awful, so much in violation of the values and morals we as a people hold dear, I felt compelled to inflict it on the rest of you.

I warn you, this is not for the faint of heart. I have not altered the image in a anyway, and is present in its original form when it was photographed with my Cingular Wireless LG camera phone.

Without further delay, I present to you:

THE ABOMINATION

I would imagine the Nevada Department of Transportation.

Can't say I've ever seen a speed limit that included fractions.

You better round down in this case.

OH the in humanity. And to think this is M/H. 10 Km/H is a blip on my car so I cannot comprehend 10 M/hr.

I think we need to clense and burn until this plague is eliminated.

If you had ever driven on the Strip at night, you would know that 11.5 miles per hour would be a huge speed increase there.

I've seen these in oil refineries. The idea behind the fraction (and the number which isn't a multiple of five) is to draw your attention. People will drive 15, 20 mph if the sign says 10, but they'll keep it to 10 if the sign says 11 1/2. That's the theory, anyway. I've seen 8 and 13 1/2, too.

Yep, took us an hour every night to get back to the hotel, I was tempted to walk but apprently there are curfew laws for minors.

Shit, that Speed limit sign had me laughing with hiccups. Here I was expecting to see something from rotten.com or the pain series, but noooo, I get something simultaneously not so bad AND worse!

That intro was perfect, Zed. I'm not sure I would have laughed as hard without it.

10 k/m is slower then 10 m/h

That was a perfect intro. I too was taken in, steeling myself for something horrific, something that would make me glad I hadn't eaten yet...and then there was that! Heh, reminds me of the "speed limit" signs of some neighbourhoods I've driven in, which had such insanity as 5 MPH.

how do you do 5 MPH? I *walk* faster that that, usually.

hehe, get out and push...
