A friend of mine has created programmable mini persistance of vision kits that you can put on your bike wheels. A guy recently posted some really cool animations using one.

The rat on a treadmill is my favourite. The others are:

Tell him to get that shit patented; he can make a mint off these if he has good business sense!

She, actually. She's very into open source. You can get the instructions on how to build one off her site or buy a kit if you're feeling lazy. :D

I doubt it's patentable. Too much prior art in the field.
