Did Paramount Intentionally Kill Nemesis?

This is not the fault of Nemesis itself so much as a gradual marginalization of the entire Trek franchise over time. If Star Trek was still going great guns and Nemesis were released, it would still make big opening-weekend BO, even if there's a big second-weekend dropoff. But to get beaten by "Maid in Manhattan" is simply embarrassing, and can only be explained by total lack of viewer interest before it even hit the screens.

Well, it looks as if nothing is going to renew public interest in the Franchise in time to save this movie. Nemesis raked in only a paltry $2.5 million for the New Year's weekend; charting a $1 million per week dropoff in the take since it's huge tumble after the opening weekend. It may take three weeks for the film to finally break the $40 million mark.

Which, in turns, damns B&B much more than simply turning out a bad movie or getting clobbered by TTT.

The last seasons of Voyager damned B&B, they have royally fucked Trek beyond all recognition and now I fear they will still blame someone else.

I hate seeing an otherwise good frnachise get killed off this mercilessly especially when the last film wasn't anywhere near as bad as some of the odd Trek films.

What irritates me is that the TNG movies just became an action franchise. They gave up on any pretense of it being actually "Star Trek: The Next Generation" and instead decided to make action movies with the title "Star Trek" slapped across the front.

AV: B&B, if asked, will probably say that ST is doing great and that it's all because of them. They probably don't even realize what they're doing.
