Dominion War's length

Post by FaxModem1 »

just how long did the Dominion war last in DS9, and how long did the federation know of the Dominion's existance?(when did they first meet them?) Why wasn't there a fleet of Fed ships guarding the wormhole at all times(before the war started)?

The Dominion war lasted aproximately 2 years (2 complete seasons).

The Federation knew of the Dominion towards the end of the second season.

Before the Dominion crossed into the Alpha Quadrant, the Federation decided that rather then station a fleet at the Wormhole, they would collapse the Wormhole in event of Dominion invasion.

gee, that strategy worked pretty well for them! However i must say that the last 2 seasons of DS9 with the exception of the baseball holodeck episode were pretty outstanding. it really took on the element of a gritty war drama and had much less preachy trek nonsense.
