Ideal ST Game
What ST-based game would you most want to see?
Personally, I'd want the "Ultimate Star Trek Starship Simulator".
It would effectively simulate starship combat As Seen On TV(tm). Want to recreate the Battle of the Mutara Nebula? Load the scenario, and you're in! The game would accurately model the characteristics of each ship, including manuevering abilities, firepower, and damage absorption.
In order to address the issue of inconsistent figures throughout the canon, the game would be able to assign different values to systems; hence, while a recreation of "Survivors" would allow you to salvo off loads of torpedoes and phasers while getting bitchslapped fairly quickly, a recreation of "Yesterday's Enterprise" would give you a more restricted rate of fire, but the ability to stand up to three K'vorts pounding on you for a few minutes.
The game should also be able to cope with figures outside the range seen in the canon material, so as to allow people to make the ships as they see fit.
The game could also adjust the properties of weapons; making them highly inaccurate or perfectly accurate, giving the torpedoes varying degrees of tracking ability. Permeability of shields could also be incorporated.
Terrain would be appropriately scaled; Independance War, a comparatively old game by today's standards, showed that this can be done. It could be done even better today.
Of course, the user could create their own scenarios in which the ships perform as they see fit.
Ideally, the game would allow for the user to take varying degrees of control, ranging from total control all the way to loading a scenario and watching it play out like a movie. The ability to record movies for future review would be nice, as would be the ability to pause the movie and swing the camera around for a particularly nice screenshot.
Other game ideas... another game with the flavor of the Star Trek 25th Anniversary game would be cool... except WITHOUT the fricken' impossible final battle!

You want a customization function...
Well, sure me too. And while this is a ST board, it'll be nice if it was a Star Trek / Star Wars Ultimate Sim instead of just Star Trek, and sim that to the same degree of accuracy.
Also, I'd prefer a "Great Naval Battles" kind of layout. You can be fleet commander, task force commander, ship commander, commander of one of the departments.

Wasn't there a Star Wars vs Star Trek mod for Star Trek Armada? Did anybody here play it?Kazuaki Shimazaki wrote:Well, sure me too. And while this is a ST board, it'll be nice if it was a Star Trek / Star Wars Ultimate Sim instead of just Star Trek, and sim that to the same degree of accuracy.

It was decent but not great
Personaly I think Star Trek:Elite Force had the right idea on the FPS side of complete ship re-recations combined with missions in said area

you know, for the life of me i cant figure out why paramount and fox cant realize that a crossover game would be a phenominal seller and make both of them ba-zillions of dollars.

Re: You want a customization function...
I can imagine the respective legal teams at Paramount and Fox salivating already. Look at how the Aliens Vs. Predator movie vanished into limbo due to legal issues with Dark Horse Comics, and that was two movie franchises owned by the same distributor.Col. I'd like to see a strategy game like Birth of the Federation, without the annoying bugs that make it crash consistently.

Because Fox has nothing to do with it, it would be LucasArts.Col. Ahhh, no, a totally accurate SW vs. ST sim would be about as fun as either climbing Mt. Everest naked (Playing the ST side), or stepping on ants (playing the SW side.)Kazuaki Shimazaki wrote:Well, sure me too. I'm aware of the two dimensional thingy.Uraniun235 wrote:Kirk say "Z minus ten thousand meters..."EmperorMing wrote:Go find a copy of SFC 1 or 2. And write your own scenario scripts.
SFC is two-dimensional, and totally inadequate compared to my above wishlist. I've played it before, and it certainly doesn't come close to what I outlined.
You might as well take an existing game (independence war 2 for example) and mod it.
