I don't like the grenades that explode in huge fireballs because that is not what they look like when they detonate, but it is only a movie so I don't actually let it bother me unlike some people that appear to.
And you do know what kills you from the grenade, right dumbass?

Depends entirely upon the type of grenade of course.
And the blast from one isn't that insignifigant. Nothing compared to the detonation of heavier ordnance, but still, not a simple puff of dirt either.

I know...but basically I was laughing that it actually looked that he said that landing on a grenade wouldn't kill you unless sucha nd such was met.

Marcus wrote:Which version of reality? I ~think~ its offically '3 K'Tinga's to 1 Connie', but if you go by the SFB converstions, and are very generous (fully refitted F-CA hull... IE the dreaded F-CB, a BCH by any other name...) and say that the 3 Klinks are basic D7K's (Id go for unrefitted D7s, but all the D7s should have at LEAST the K refit by the time the F-CB enters service...) then the Fed boat goes down, and may cripple one Klink before he does. If the Klinks are stupid.

So... scratch match, or Fed Dies, depending on which vision of TOS reality you prefer.
Not exactly official, but:
SFB: First-Generation X-Ships says the Ent-A is CX (CC with phaser-x replacing ph-1, more power, stronger shields)
SFC-OP has a K'Tinga class: D7 battlecruiser with 5x photons instead of the disruptors. Been a long time since I've seen the movie, but don't the klingons fire photons at the cloud? That would eliminate D7/D7K/DX

Played this one in starfleet command, result is one one K'Tinga destroyed, light damage to the other two, and Ent-A destroyed. With a decent human player commanding the Klingons, Enterprise is lucky to get one before dying.

I belive the first-gen Klink X ship had torps..... this was WAAAYYYY back in the day, before certain marketing squabbles resulted in Torps coming off the Klink hulls.

So, if you want it to be a Fed CCX vs 3 SFC-EAW/OP K'Tingas...

dead CCX. Trust me. 2 Aft Photons on Proxy if you chase, 3 forward Photons on proxy if you run, and ive got 3 hulls to your one. Very dead CCX

Actually I'd say extremely dead ccx... If you stay and fight.

Best chance is to go for one and hope to get lucky before running. Overload the ph-xs and if possible while getting decent speed, the torps. Go head to head with the klingons and 180 het as you pass. CCX can cripple a k'tinga with the first pass if it can hit the rear shield. But that's only going to work once. You've got FA shields down and 4 photons coming at you if you try it again. If you take all weapons offline and run, CCX should get out alive. Might be wrong about this, but doesn't CCX have power for max speed, ecm, and some shield reinforcement?

Of course if its a decent human player comanding the klingons, 3x k'tingas in close formation=no real chance for the CCX. Stay out of effective oveload range and its 15 torps to 4.

End result: at best, CCX might get one K'tinga

Give the CX an outstanding crew and a full set of legendary officers, and the odds shift at least a little. If nothing else, the 'Bluff' attack will always work 33% of the time.

And close to OL range, and its 9 FA OLs to 4. All the K'Tingas have to do is play conservative. Hell. The Klinks could starcastle against the Feds. ~grins~

I've played SFB once, and that was in 1987. I played a Klingon B-10 against a friend's swarm of fighters. Got my ass handed to me. I'd love to find some of their kick-ass miniatures, though.
