Final Score: 10/10
As soon as I heard in your TMP review that the movie scores would be relative to each other, I knew that this film could be no other. Truly an enthralling review and it's fascinating to see the passages taken from the books and laid against the dialogue they inspired.

Really interesting review. You also make it a point to note slam the "LOL! Spock will be back!" aspects, instead noting that the movie would have ended on possibly too much of a downer if not for the "Remember" line, and seeing Spock's coffin on Genesis. Though I'm sure you'll find aspects wrong with it, it does not sound like the ST:3 review is headed for a "it ruined Spock's death!" angle.

A bummer that the Lions ended their losing streak or I might have exploded at that reference instead of just laughing so hard that my sides hurt. Too funny.

That review was a masterpiece to be proud of, Chuck. It reminded me why ST2 and ST6 feud for the top spot among Trek movies on my list.

I am a little surprised you didn't really make any mention of the musical score, as much as the rest of the movie IT would be the yardstick against which all other scores were measured, but the review was utterly fantastic, great work.

You mean the currently 4-0 Saints? Don't think so. 8)

To go off topic briefly....

Whenever I think of the Saints I think of the time some years ago when the Saints went to Buffalo in Week 1 (or was it 2?) and beat the Bills there. I think it was that night, or the next day, that I sent Mike an e-mail with an mp3 of "The Saints Come Marching In". 8)

I think it would be all too easy for Chuck to make a review of Wrath that's longer than the actual movie, there's just so much to comment on. But yes, it's true, the music of TWOK was truly epic, I listen to pieces of it on youtube from time to time.

Sorry! I couldn't help it!

Of course, he then kinda got revenge when the Bills came to Jacksonville and beat the Jags. :(

If they win the Superbowl then we can start to worry. Add the Cubs winning the World Series to that.

One thing always struck me as strange about this movie that Chuck didn't mention. When Khan first catches Chekov and Terrell on Ceti Alpha V, he takes off his left glove, but not the right glove.

He goes the rest of the movie wearing that one glove, and it turns out at the end that he's able to activate the Genesis device because that one hand isn't burned or injured and can still turn the cylinders to trigger the thing.

I've always wondered if there was some other meaning to him wearing that one glove through the whole movie, or if it was just setup for him to have an excuse to have one good hand at the end.

"This is not bad; this is a conspiracy to remove happiness from existence. It seeks to wrap its hedgehog hand around the still beating heart of the personification of good and squeeze until it is stilled."

According to the DVD commentary, Meyer suggested the glove to Montalban to puzzle viewers. Mission accomplished.

IIRC, Meyer also mentioned on the commentary that he liked to turn the question onto the people asking it, replying to "why is he wearing the glove?" with "Well, why do you think he's wearing the glove?"

Very exeleent. I know some people who aren't fond of TWoK, and I'm going to show this to them to see if it will change their minds.
I was aware of the literary references, particulary Moby Dick, but I was still a little surprised at how much there was.

Side note-Greg Cox's book about Khan's exile claims that the glove was to hide the fact that Khan's right hand was mangled by gripping an overloading phaser, but on reflection, I suppose that it doesn't make too much sense for Khan to be able to use that hand because it was already burned.
