At the moment she wants control, she apparently still believes trek is worthwhile but needs to be run by someone with a clue.

George Takai and Scott Backula are who now?

Sulu from TOS and Archer from Enterprise (or Sam Beckett from Quantum Leap as I prefer to think of him).

I would recommend that people go here http://www.tvguide.com/features/startrek/index.asp not only does it show the decline in trek has been noticed by those not inside the Scifi Geek realm but you could also submit your ideas for saving trek.

However, I dread the day that Lucas kicks the bucket. Whoever inherits the franchise will certainly turn it into the spin-off circus that Trek has become.
George Lucas will probably freeze the Franchise in his will so that this won't happen. The thing is that Berman claimes that Gene turn Star Trek over to him and so what he does is with the creators blessing

Fuck, does that mean no more EU? Crap! It had better not, or Star Wars dies with Lucas.

So the question is, if it comes down to more EU with a similar decline in quality to what B&B have done to Trek, or Star Wars dying with Lucas, what's your call?

Fucking A! About time somebody in an effective position did something about those fuckwits. I'm a little surprised Bakula put his lot in, though; after all, if Mrs. Roddenberry is faced with the option of letting those fuckers run or killing Trek completely, I'm guessing she'd choose the latter option, and Bakula would be out of a job.
Not necessarily. Paramount might be convinced to let B&B go in favor of new blood, but I personally doubt they could be convinced to up and *drop* a show into which they've invested a chunk of cash for advertising, sets, and merchandise.

If this were to succeed in any form (which I unfortunately don't see happening) it would probably be in the form of B&B being overseen by someone to ensure quality on Enterprise, while new blood completely takes over the feature films.

The Only logical way this can ever work is to have a Borg Sphere go back in time to destroy Enterprise, probably from the 25th-26th century. Have a new Enterprise F follow them in and try to avert further contamination of the past.

I don't watch that often, but most of my friends who aren't scifi fans actually love it.

Anyway, what would stop the government from keeping it confidential? Then burrying it and forgetting? Wouldn't be unprecedented.

The Borg sphere would've been COMPLETLEY INCINERATED in Earth's atmosphere. There wouldn't be anything left to bury.

There could be. Remember this is Trek science. Where event horizons have cracks and you can extrapolate the path of evolution.

*Thwaps Technobabble* Quiet you!

I really don't see how you can explain thousands of tiny ass shards all blown to hell are supposed to survive re-entry, much less with living Borg drones! Fuck there shouldn't even be corpses.

Well it's about bloody time. I'm surprised Bakula's helping her out, but I guess I owe him more respect than I've shown him in the past, seeing as how he recognizes that something is wrong, now.

I sincerely doubt Bakula is involved with this (if it's even happening and not just a hopeful rumor). That would be the equivilant of pubically going to the CEO and trying to get your boss fired. Stewart and Frakes could probably get away with it (rumor has it Frakes is pissed that TPTB kept meddling in "Insurrection", and it's not like they're going to fire Captain Picard), but how hard would it be for B&B to kill off Captain Archer and then blame Bakula for the show's dismal ratings when asked to explain?

The question is if the fans will return if B&B are removed. I still am having trouble understanding why Paramount won't remove B&B after Nemisis and the fall in Ent.'s rating? It just doesn't make sence. They know they are losing money and that they can salvage the franchise if they get some good people.

Its simple really, B&B have access to Paramounts execs, the fans dont. The execs probably believe that B&B are the best people to relate to the fan base, because they are in charge of it. So everything Paramount knows reguarding the state of the fan-base comes from those two. So its easy for them to make up excuses to explain why Trek isnt doing to well.
