What happened to the Romulan Admirals?
All of the high-ranking Romulans in Nemesis were just commanders. What do you think happened to the admirals?

Perhaps those Commanders were Shinzon's liason to the military, or perhaps "commander" was being used in a more general term and no as a specific rank.

I don't fully remember the movie (that forgettable, I suppose) but it could be that those were commanders placed in strategic points in the Romulan fleet that supported him when he struck. The admirals may have all been killed during Shinzon's rise to power, and he may see more worth in the commanders as starship commanders rather than as desk jockeys. Or, it's also possible that much of the Romulan Empire is still unaware of the developments at Romulus, and the sudden promotion of a number of commanders following a loss of contact with the admirals might make too many Romulans suspicious.
Tomalak IIRC was a Commander in TNG... I think the Romulan rank structure is different, with Commanders being the COs of starships. They IIRC have a "Sub-Commander" rank.
