I watched Star Trek IV last night.

Its a good film, a damn good way to end the Khan trilogy...

Interestingly enough did anyone else notice that the Navigator on the USS Saratoga seems to be of the same speces as the Fed Pres in ST VI?

The place where they were looking at the ship in dock is right off the tarmac next to the air strip. People don't generally "hang out" there although I suppose it is possible. Plus, unless they beamed on I'd like to know how they got on the base. Actually, now that I think about it they may have been able to weasle through if they rode an extremely packed bus on base and the guard was careless.

Besides, it was the USS Ranger a Forestall class non-nuclear carrier that stood in for the Big E.

Still a fun movie though.

Before the first Gulf War started, security at Alameda was kind light. I got in no problems a few times, granted I drove in as a passenger in a Marine's personal vehicle but it would not have been to hard to jump a fence.

But they were sort of exposed out in the middle air strip. I wonder how they avoided getting hit by one of the numerous jets or helicopters that was there at the time.

Yeah, The navigator on the Saratoga, the Fed Pres. and Lt. Illia, are all Deltans.

I've been watching the SE and loving it.

4 is just plain one of the better ST works. I'd forgotten how much fun it is. The Special Editions of the movies so far have been really worth buying, for me at least.

I didn't really get there until after GWI but even then it wouldn't have been that difficult to get on the base.

If they had wanted to they could have filmed them looking at the Ranger from almost the same place and not had them on the tarmac. There's a nice little wooden pier they could have been on without risking any notice from security.

II and VI are the best. IV is a close third. Its a fun flim that doesn't take itself too seriously. Just the sort of thing we need from Trek these days. Get rid of the pompous preaching TNG era crap.

It was said earlier, but ST IV is, to most people, the most...well..."watchable" of the orginal series films. It was the first Trek movie I saw, and some bits just make me howl. Trying to pass Spock and his new-age bathrobe off as normal was hilarious.

Disc 1 has a commentary track by Shatner and Nimoy, as well as a subtitle commentary/trivia done by Okuda.

Disc 2 has some interviews about the making of ST4, theatrical trailer, etc.
