Its a timeship used in the BBC series Dr. Who, the longest running sci-fi series in history, 26-years of episodes. The vessel is owned and operated by a rouge Timelord named The Doctor. The Timelords are a reclusive race of scientists and philosophers who long ago learned how to travel and manipulate time to their own advantage. Their fleet of TRADIS's allow them to explore the universe at any time or place. The outside of the one in the series is stuck in the shape of a early 60's London police call box(from the era before the Bobbies had raidos). Its supposed to shift to blend into its surroundings, but this ones 'chameleon circuit' broke on a trip to London and its been stuck ever since.

The joke comes from the fact that the TARDIS is larger on the inside than the exterior, as its interior occupies a pocket dimension of infinite potential sizes and purpose, its entirely possible to get lost in its labrynth of corridors, lockers and labs and never find your way out.

And the theme song fucking kicks ass- the 1975 one being the best.

Just for reference the tardis does actually have an entrance on the top, it's an airlock, it appeared in about two episodes. If it actually was a TARDIS they'd never (ever) get in, the parameters of the pocket dimension are tweaked to prevent the TARDIS being damaged, it's questionable if grid-fire would even warm it up.

In any case, of course B&B can't reference Dr. Who, they have trouble referencing ST:TOS TNG and even DS9.

Now, if you really want to see Dr.Who (or rather the daleks) in B&B's creations, keep an eye out for my 'demented and cruel crossover' in the fanfic forum.

Yeah, Tom Baker rules as the fourth Doctor. IIRC, he was the longest running Doctor and also the only one with all of his episodes intact (many of the original Dr. Who episodes are "lost" due to extermely stupid decisions by the studios in the 70's, but every so often some of them are recovered and restored).
