Theoretically, in "I, Borg" Picard states that power chips in Borg synthesize everything the body needs.

And the Borg can regenerate tissue at an astounding rate.

I wonder if the Borg could assimilate a Founder.
Well, Next Generation Borg and they'll adapt to whatever the Dominion throws at them. Voyager Borg and the Dominion will own them hardcore. The Dominon Dreadnoughts have more firepower than the Scimitar from Nemisis. Immagine what one of those would do to something that had trouble with an Intreped-class ship.

An Intrepid class survived minutes fighting the Tactical cube, taking blast after blast. A Battleship/Dreadnought deliver far more firepower then a Intrepid so it will most likey bring heavy damages, perhaps even destroy it. Its shields might stand against the tactical cube weapons.

I think your missing the question of the size of the Dominion. Your assuming that the Borg have more cubes than the Dominion has Battleships, but it is quite possible the Dominion dwarfs the Borg in the amount of planets. And the fact that the dominion could probably replace losses they incur faster than the borg. In my opinion 3 Battleships could engage a Borg cube with high success, especially (it is my understanding atleast) since they carry Beetles.

Yes I do. I do speculate the Borg do have low thousands in number of cubes. In one engagement in Voy Scorpion, the Borg lost 312 ships. I bet the majority of those ships were cubes, and I doubt the Dominion has equal amount of battleships.

I do belive the Dominion has perhaps several dozens of battleships (in Alpha and Gamma quadrant during DS9 era)

That is possible but not likely, since Borg space stretches across Delta and Beta quadrant. In early DS9 era the Dominion didn't control the space around the wormhole in the Gamma quadrant untill the Dominion forces started to invade Alpha quadrant that is.

Numberwise most likely. It dosen't take much resources or time to build 20 gunships compare to it would take to build a Borg cube.

If it is a first ecounter then yes probably, but if the Borg have adapted their shields against their weapons then not likely, unless they resort to ramming.

And in which episode have we seen the battleship launching these "beetles"?

Against the Borg, the Dominion would probably HAVE to resort to ramming. Their weapons should be adapted to without much problem. So, I don't know what would happen. My money is still on the Borg, though...

Adaption wouldn't make them invulnerable, as we know they will lose if they take a beating, especially from the large amount of Torpedos the Battleship carries (this and the beetles I read on either the Encylcopedia or Fact Files, I'll have to check when I get home to see where I read it)

If the Borg have adapted to the Dominion weapons then it would most likely take a lot more then just three battleships to defeat it.

Neither the Encylcopedia or the Fact Files are canon.

Ramming Tactics

Post by Kitsune »

In most non-trek fiction, a ram, if possible and sucessfull, has a corvette destroy a battleship with a ram. The amount of energy released in such and iteraction is monsterous if it occurs at a fraction of light. While not as big as asteroids that are theorised to cause some of extinction events, their velocity is much greater

If we assume that close in collisions are improssible, it still leaves tactics like are in the Starfire novel "Shiva Option." The Arachnids would attack with what was called a "bug swarm" with a whole group of gunboats attamting to make a ramming tactic while carrying massive amounts of antimater.

Theoretically, in "I, Borg" Picard states that power chips in Borg synthesize everything the body needs.
However, in Voyager we discover that there's a "cortical node" (if I recall the name correctly) which cannot be synthesized by the Borg implants, and which must be supplied by the cube or the drone will die. The problem was severe enough that they had to capture a Borg drone body in order to save 7 of 9.

Perhaps this explains why the Borg are not as effective in mass assimilation as some of the Trek fanboys would have us believe; an implant-assimilated drone can only live for a certain period before it needs one of these irreplaceable implants.

Well, I think we've established that there is not enough consistency when dealing with the Borg to make this determination.

Its too bad there isn't more information on the Dominion, we don't know how big they really are. Also I now know that Fact Files and Encylopedia are shit, whats the sense of them releasing them if they don't have any official point? :(
