Enterprise was shut out last night at the 29th Annual Saturn Awards, despite having earned four nominations.
The Star Trek franchise took home only one award last night of its ten nominations: Best DVD Television Release for Star Trek: The Next Generation. That series' latest feature offering, Star Trek: Nemesis, lost Best Science Fiction Film to Minority Report and Best Supporting Actor for Tom Hardy (Shinzon) to The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers' Andy Serkis (Gollum).
Nemesis costume designer Bob Ringwood and makeup designer Michael Westmore were also nominated for awards, but an early news item at Sci-Fi Wire did not have the results of those competitions and the Saturn Awards web site had not been updated as of this posting.
Enterprise had earned nominations in television categories for Best Network Series, won by Alias; Best Actor for Scott Bakula, won by Angel's David Boreanaz; Best Supporting Actress for Jolene Blalock, won by Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Alyson Hannigan; and Best Supporting Actor for Connor Trinneer, won by Alias' Victor Garber.
The Director's Edition of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan had received a nomination for Best Classic DVD Release but was beaten by E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial.
Director Steven Spielberg was present to pick up his awards for that film, as Best Director for Minority Report and for Best Single TV Program Presentation for the miniseries Steven Spielberg Presents: Taken.
More awards can be found at Sci-Fi Wire, though this is not a complete list.

This raises the question: Who'd have won if Hannigan played T'Pol on Enterprise and Blalock played Willow on Buffy???Best Supporting Actress for Jolene Blalock, won by Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Alyson Hannigan

Actually I was talking about Enterprise losing.Patrick Ogaard wrote:Wrong on two points.neoolong wrote:Damn straight.
1. Not straight.
2. I doubt Blalock could pull off an interesting character. Saw her in CSI, and was not impressed by an extra being given speaking lines.

Well, see, that interpretation of your statement would shoot my witty, pithy commentary right out the window. Thus, I will naturally assume that you meant exactly what I bounced my rapier wit off of.neoolong wrote:Actually I was talking about Enterprise losing.Patrick Ogaard wrote:Wrong on two points.neoolong wrote:Damn straight.

David Boreanez was excellent this year in Angel. He deserves it.Darth Garden Gnome wrote:Richard Dean Anderson should've won. Stupid Boreanez.

And the fact that Jack has those really cool energy pistols. His team could also wipe out all of Angel's as well.Darksider wrote:I agree, those P-90's could saw off his head pretty quicklyAdmiral Johnason wrote:Jack O'Neil could kill Angel in a heart beat.Darth Garden Gnome wrote:Richard Dean Anderson should've won.
