GCS related questions.
1. Using the shield figure from this website, can someone calculate the power of the Echo Papa robot's weapon that attacked the Enterprise D in 'Arsenal of Freedom'?
The first shot damaged the E-D badly and it was stated after the first shot 'That they cant stand up to it much longer'. The E-D did withstand it a while longer, but had to leave orbit.
2. Same thing as above, but with the alien ship from 'Darmok' (TNG.)
First volley from them caused the shields to drop to 53%. The shields collapsed soon after.
3. I've heard about the 'War GCS'. What are the differences between the War GCS and the regular one? Apart from improved shields I mean, I know they upgraded the fleets shields after capturing that Jem' Hadar warship in 'The Ship' (DS9.)

Just to remind you that Worf did say the Tamarians ship was comparable to the Enterprise herself so that should be some indication of a power for the Tamarians.TurboPhaser wrote: 2. Same thing as above, but with the alien ship from 'Darmok' (TNG.)

That seems to be more powerful than the Enterprise-D. Few ships can bring down the enemy shields to almost half so easilyDeath from the Sea wrote:Just to remind you that Worf did say the Tamarians ship was comparable to the Enterprise herself so that should be some indication of a power for the Tamarians.TurboPhaser wrote: 2. War GCS did not have science labs installed and other unnecessary features.TurboPhaser wrote:

IIRC, they included phaser strips on the nacelles and reinforced necks.paladin wrote:War GCS did not have science labs installed and other unnecessary features.TurboPhaser wrote:

I believe in a sign of Zeta.

Re: GCS related questions.
That depends on the particular variant of the War GCS. The standard War GCS had improved Warp Cores which were not prone to failure and had more powerful. They carried improved torpedo stocks and IIRC they started using Warp Core power for more ship systems to further supliment the Fussion generators. There were a series of different variants of the War GCS. One had a reinforced spine which gave it greater endurance as well as a likely higher speed (it could use all three Impulse systems at once at full power), the second one had an expanded shuttlebay, and the third had added phaser strips on its nacelles.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:IIRC, they included phaser strips on the nacelles and reinforced necks.paladin wrote:War GCS did not have science labs installed and other unnecessary features.TurboPhaser wrote:

The Enterprise-D had really weak shields for its size, a problem rapidly corrected to the fullest extent in the War Galaxies and the Enterprise-E. I doubt the E-D could be expected to survive (Whithout character shields) any Dominion battle, yet every War Galaxy did, I believe some even took and shugged off hits from Cardassian weapons platforms that murdered Warbirds...Alyeska, you probably can explain this much better than I can...but whatever tricks my memory may be playing on me War Galaxies all have improved shields.

One bigass Phaser Cannon, 16 exposed phaser arrays (compared to 11 in the original flight), 1 (possibly two) photon torpedo launchers, three really strange things on the topside of the saucer that may or may not be weapons.Ender wrote:Can anyone provide a weapons loadout for the AGT GCS?

Thanks for all the replies, even though you did tend to ignore the 'Arsenal' question.
At least I've got the War GCS sorted out, I was never clear on that. Anyone got any pics of that re-enforced spine? And perhaps the nacelle phasers?

Re: GCS related questions.
Well we have never really seen two first flight galaxy class ships (or any two galaxy class ships for that matter) go at it, so for all we know the same thing would happen. Meaning the Ent-D had sucky shields but good firepower, which fits because shield strength was something improved upon in the War Mod Galaxy ships.evilcat4000 wrote:That seems to be more powerful than the Enterprise-D. What was the episode where the Enterprise engaged a smaller vessel which was stated to have equal firepower? The vessel opened up and its first volley brought the Enterprises shields down to 16%. Return fire damaged the weapon systems and blew up the vessel. This is probably as close to Galaxy vs. Galaxy as can be found, and supports my feeling that initial Galaxies had really bad shielding. Really bad.

Unification PT1. And thats not exactly how it went. The ship had comparable weapons to the Enterprise, but it probably had a forward weapon biass because it drained the Enterprises shields similar in speed to a Warbird. Anyway after the Enterprise had at least 40% of their shields drained Riker has Worf return fire to disable. Turns out the opposing ship had concentrated ALL of its abilities into weapons and had crap shielding. What should have been a disabling shot detonated weapons inside and blew the ship up.The Silence and I wrote:What was the episode where the Enterprise engaged a smaller vessel which was stated to have equal firepower?
