Cardassian warships

Post by Sarevok »

As far as I know there are three classes of Cardassians warships. The Hideki which is a small scout class ship. Galors which are the backbone of the Cardassian fleet. And the Keldons that are the heavy hitters of the Cardassian fleet. There also seems to be a dreadnaught cruise missile which seems to be a strategic weapon.

What do we know about these ships in terms of weapons, shields, speed and power ?

Cardassian ships are commonly thought to be a step or two behind the Federation. The Galor's are the characteristic ships of the fleet. The Hideki's are (apparently) the Cardassians's (half-arsed) response to the Defiant, and the Keldons were (as I recall) constructed by the Obsidian Order for the specific purpose of... hurting the Dominion or something like that. Keldons, if I remember correctly, are uprated Galors.

That's what's off the top of my head. Perhaps other folks can provide more in-depth detail and confirm/rebutt what I'm thinking.

Acc. to the CCG, (I know it's not canon) the Hideki is just a pstrol ship used along the borders. The Keldon is just a larger cruiser, and the OO built a few of it's own with cloaks for TDIC.

Mostly right. Keldons existed in the main fleet as well. In the episode where Thomas Riker hijacks the Defiant, Gul Dukat notes that the Obsidian Order Keldon chasing it is faster than a normal Keldon. That indicates that there were Keldons in the Cardassian fleet before then. Otherwise Dukat would be surprised not about its anomalous speed, but that it was of an unknown class.
I prepared Explosive Runes today.

He said something about Cardassian pursuit vessels being years ahead of that design but he was probably lying.

Too bad that Hutet thing isn't canon.
