Picard and Co. seem to be way more willing to ditch a ship and move on and hardly look back. When Kirk blew up the Enterprise in The Search for Spock he was very upset saying "My God, what have I done?". Yes, but the origional Enterprise had a little more historical value and most of those guy had put more than half their lives into that ship.
