a) Yeah, but wouldn't the franchise be infinitely better off if it weren't?, b) okay, never actually saw that episode in its entirety and c) bugger. Totally forgot about that.

A. No, The fourth season was much better than what came before.
B. Well, you should watch both parts if you get the chance.

Never saw the 4th season but unless it was hyperspectacularawesome it's not going to be enough. We're talking about a series that managed to torpedo itself with the very opening episode. Quo'Nos, capital world of the far distant Klingon Empire, is...about a lightyear from Earth.

Just because its better than what came before dosent mean the franchise as a whole benefits from Season 4.
The mirror episodes are the high point of that season and even they are quite poorly done because its a tangent into obscurity which actually ends even more stupidly.

Enterprise could effectively be ignored with no effect on the rest of the franchise and even benefit as a whole. Thanks to Enterprise, Starfleet is established as being run by morons with their flagship crew being a disgrace.

As for the AG fields: We see the Defiant Connie able to do this over a localised area without forcefields of any kind with Archer not far away. Thus the technology has been demonstrated and is a logical progression of what we have seen Star Trek do.

Or you could scroll up to where I posted this exact same list like 6 posts ago? Also, they didn't use the gas in all of those episodes. In some, they mention it as a possibility, but do not end up using it.
Oops overlooked your post about it sorry.

All those crisis situations when lights were out, they were about to freeze to death and/or suffocate on short notice? Artificial gravity was always on. :P
:D

Hm. I remember what was like the only episode of Voyager I ever watched through, having Tuvok crank up the artificial gravity to 1.1g to make it harder on some guys running laps through the corridors. Presumably you could crank it up further, but how much further I don't know.
