Why the hell are the Gorn never used?

I think that they could fit in nicely with Boobyprise, but of course we'll probably never see them.

Dammit, BRING BACK THE GORN! Hell, how about a war between the Klingons and the Gorn? I would love to see the old Klingons get tossed around by the gigantic reptiallian humanoids?

By the way, would an anthropologist or an herpetologist study the Gorn?

I meant to ask, "why the hell are the Gorn NEVER used." Damn, I can't listen to music and type at the same time.

I would like to say that having the Gorn appear in Boobyprise would really destroy the contunity but with B&B it's already screwed up. So I say bring on the Gorn!!!

Superman wrote:By the way, would an anthropologist or an herpetologist study the Gorn?
That would entirely depend on who the Gorn would eat first. :D

IIRC, the episode 'Arena' was THE first time humans and Gorn collided.

Not that it'll make much difference to Dipshit&Dumphard....

although I would like to see the Gorn chow down a bit...

Well, they have already screwed up the continuity with the Ferengi so why not the Gorn?

Hell, it's just a matter of time before we see Q and the Borg in Boobyprise anyway.

Why did the Gorn never show up in TNG or DS9? You would think they at least would have been mentioned once or twice, maybe sought out as allies during the Dominion War.

The Dominion War really would have been good if they had included the likes of the Gorn and the Tholians.

If they bring back the gorn they really need to improve their looks.

Well, the idiot producers tried to improve the "looks" of the Andorians and succeeded to destroy the continuity to an even greater extent. The Andorians now have a receeding hairline and forehead ridges.

What is with Star Trek and forehead ridges? They were added to Klingons and now the Andorians? Why the hell do Andorians need them?

I say leave the Gorn as they are. Maybe update them slightly, but for Christ's sake, stop adding features just to make them look "cool."

Tholians: Were fugging CRYSTALS!m why do we need ridges on our upper facets!

Gorn, Orions, & Horta: Yeah they tried doing it to us too, new union contract and all,

Tholians: So what di you do?

Gorn: We ate them
Horta: We dissolved them in Acid
Orions: Ah, we boinked their brains out, so they turned us into blue anphibions that give great head.....

Tholians: At his rate their going to hear about "The Tholian Web" and turn us into a bunch of spiders...
Gorn: At least they aren't planning on using stock footage from "Jurrassic Park" for your new look.
Horta: Or replace you with Holograms!

What do you mean? The Gorn were one of the best looking TOS aliens. Not that thats saying all that much.

How would it destroy the continuity? As a troll invading this board I wouldn't know ( :D )

I think that the Gorn and the Thollians were mentioned briefly on DS9. A couple of times the Thollian ambassador was supposedly on the station but we never saw him. I also think there were specific statements about the Gorn , Thollians, First Federation and others not getting involved in the Dominon War.

I understand the Thollians being primarilly interested in maintaining their own privacy but I would have thought the Gorn were miliatristic enough that we really should have seen them sometime during TNG, DS9. I always figured the Gorn would have been good adversaries for the Klingons to constantly but heads with.

Wasn't there a recent TNG comic book special dealing with the Gorn? I think it had to do with some of the Gorn resenting the situation that they had been in following the TOS episode "Arena".

I think that the Gorn were supposed to be less advanced, technologically speaking, than the Feds and the Klingons. That's why Kirk could easily catch up with the Gorn ship in that "Arena" episode. I think their weapons are less advanced also.

Technologically speaking, the Gorn would lose to the Klingon Empire, but as soon as the Bat'leths came out and the disruptors were put away, I think the Gorn would bite their heads off.

IOW, anytime there's ground combat. :D

Remember the size of the boulder that the Gorn used to throw at Kirk? They've definitely got some strength, even if they are slow.

By the way, Kirks punches bounced right off of the Gorn's thick scaly hide. Kirk has knocked the crap out of the Klingons before.

Tholians are nasty, agressive, teritorial ,and take things litteraly .In TOS they were going to war with the Federation because the Klingons disabled a Federation ship and it DRIFTED into there space.

"You've got people flying at impossible speeds and spaceships defying gravity. You've got a lot of things that are accepted, but that are almost scientifically ridiculous. It's so easy to turn it into a parody. I've been asked to put together an Enterprise blooper reel for a CBS project, and I agreed to do it. So I'm loosening up a little in that area."
I thought the whole series was a blooper?

Pulaski referred to a war between the Tholians and the Federation in TNG. Been there, done that.

The Gorn also utterly wiped all life off of a Federation Planet, Their weapons could have easilly destroyed the Enterprise, just as the enterprise could have easily destroyed the Gorn.

The Understanding in the old wargames was that the Gorn Ships are eggs with Sledgehammers. They make up for their low speed and manuverabilty by having a first shot that can kill just about ANYTHING in Trek. This would explain their slow speeds too.

If we're going by non-canon (as in Starfleet Battles) the Gorns use an even stronger arsenal of the Romulan-style plasma torpedoes shown in TOS. Ouch.

IMO, the return of the Gorns would need to be done with CGI creatures. There's just no way those suits couldn't look hokey, even with today's makeup standards.

If they bring back the Gorn they will be different than in the original series and will move faster.
