I have read in several trade papers as of late that viewship ratings for Enterprise are dropping and the show may soon be dropped by UPN a.k.a. CBS. And was wondering why. Now I know a lot of you will say that it is because ENTERPRISE sucks. I happen to disagree, while I do agree that the stories are not as though provoking or detailed as TNG and the last part of DS9. BTW Voyager was an absolute piece of crap and it lasted seven years.

Which brings me to another question. Why did B&B make the descion that all ST shows after TNG were going be 7 seasons just because TNG made it that long? I've heard them refer to the fact that DS9 and Voyager both could have kept going for more seasons but their seven years were up. Who they think they are? JMS?

But back to Enterprise. The ratings did not begin to drop until this the 2nd season. Why? In my mind it is because they keep skipping new episodes. In the last seven weeks there have been three new shows. So on Wed nights instead of watching Ent. viewers switched the channel (I know I do) and then find something else they didn't know was on but like better. So they stick to it. People forget to watch and move on. This is bad marketing on somebody's part. The first rule of TV is to never give your audienece the chance or reason to change the channel. They have done this and because of it are losing their show, which actually isn't that bad.

I agree with him on all but one part. ENTERPRISE DOES SUCK!

Given how much of a loss in ratings...I hope somewhen Paramount will just cancel.

I think that they should just let enterprise to continue to go down the drain.

Janeway Porn. Then, when the ratinge reach a point where they're lower than the margin of error in the ratings system itself, they'll put more in. Then, after actualyl watching one episode, their brains will melt, and someone else will take charge.

I have pointed out that the central problem with Enterprise is the writing. The characters simply are not Trek-calibre. In fact, they are terrible. They have NO personalities. That being said, the fact that Trekkies (including myself) were willing to "stick with" Enterprise until the second season is more a testament to the loyalty of the fans than it is to the quality (or lack thereof) of the show itself. I watched the entire first season. I HATED it, but I stuck with it and kept telling myself that it was going to recover. The moment I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that it would not get better was "Shockwave Part II," when Hoshi ripped her shirt off for no reason (and they still didn't let us see anything). That's when I stopped watching it. Afterwards, I realized that I had sort of known the series was never going to get better sub-consciously, but that was when it sunk in. I seriously doubt that the quality of ENT has gotten better since I stopped watching it, but the fact of the matter is that I have stopped watching it, and I'm not about to start watching it again unless I am presented with compelling evidence that the show has improved by leaps and bounds. For me, at least, the decision to stop seeing the show had NOTHING to do with other shows on the market. Even during the first season there were better shows out there (or I could just pop in one of my Simpsons or B5 DVD's and watch a few eps without commercials), and I was still watching. Now they have exhausted my patience, though. They're not getting any better unless some BIG changes are made in Paramount. Sorry.

BTW, I'm moving this to the "Pure Star Trek" forum, as it has nothing to do with anything but ST.

It really sucks that Firefly, which showed more improvement in any given three-episode span than Enterprise has during its entire run, got shot down while Entercrap is still on the air.

Kill Enterprise. Bring back Farscape.

Farscape had character and a dark, personal storyline (which would purposely board on the stupid at times). It made fun of scifi (especially ST). After 6th season TNG, ST went down the crapper.

I honestly do not think she is that bad looking.

Sorry guys, but I will admit that if given half a chance, I would do Janeway. Then again, most of the chicks on Voy were not bad at all..Torres..mmmmmm....Seven...yummy.....Kess.....VERY NICE.....

I didnt think Gates was ugly, just far to skinny. Id hit Nurse Ogowa thought. Hmmm. Keiko O' Brien, Counseler Troi, Robbin Lefler, etc.

Polaski is not attractive but that is due to her age. She was attractive in TOS.

As for Whoopi, Id rather jump to my doom.
