i saw it in an episode of tng where the galaxyX was shown
i think it was Geordi who said "catpain should we go on warp 13?"
so wtf is that only treknobabelabel or what i didnt find anything about that on mikes page or here in the forum
i ever thought warp 10 is unreacheble caus the ship would be in all places of the galaxy at the same time

They obviously redrew the warp scale again which makes sense since its easier to saw "warp 13" instead of "warp 9.999956742" .

That's exactly what I thought when I saw "All Good Things". I always thought the redone 24th century warp scale was one of the dumbest things in the world anyway.

What's wrong with Warp 13? Is Warp 9.999999999999999999999999 etc the highest or something?

I think that anything above Warp 10 is considered to be Transwarp speed.

You can't actually reach warp 10 which is why as you get faster you get much longer warp speeds (so for example a transwarp speed would equate to warp 9.99999999999999999999999 or something).

I thought they reached warp 10 in Voyager before.

Thats when Janeway and Paris devolved into lizzards.

This warp 10 journey you are talking about turned Paris into a lizard by acclerating his evolution, but Holodoc was able to restore his DNA back to normal!

It wouldn't be the 1st time the Warp scale have been modified. I seem to remember the Warp scale from TOS being radically re-adjusted by the time of TNG.

I always figured that in All Good Things that Warp 13 wasn't actually 13 on the warp scale but something like warp 9.99etc... taken out to to a certain point where they refered to it as warp 13. Whether it was 9.99 taken out to the 13th decimal point or something else.
It's possible they redrew the warp curve again but after setting the upper limit at "10" the last time I don't see why they would change that.
Perhaps Warp 13 is actually the equivalent to Transwarp 3 or something eslse beyound warp but it's quicker to just say it as Warp 13.
I like my first theory best but it's pulled from my ass just like the others.

It was my impression, and I might be wrong, that when they started TNG they adjusted the warp scale so people would think that the new Enterprise was faster than the old and still retain the classic lines and feeling of saying "all ahead, warp factor 6." or what ever.
The problem started with the writers who increasingly wanted ships to be faster and faster but ten was the speed limit. So that gave us garbage like warp 9.99999999666666662222222222. Hopefully, by Nemisis they have tweaked the system so ships can just go warp 9,10,11,12, ect instead of their confussing .11112222233333444455555 system.
Imaging being the helmsman, and your captain tells you to go to warp 3.147852963. "Beg your pardon sir, warp 3.14........... what was the rest of that?"

By the way, since they actually refered to it as "Warp 13" it is likely that the ships can go faster than that or "Warp 13" is something more specific than just a speed.
What I mean is that in other Trek shows when they want to get the hell out of someplace fast they go to "maximum warp" instead of saying "warp 9.98 something or other". Granted the writers of AGT wanted people to hear that Warp 13 thing to know that future ships must be much faster than current era TNG ships but to do that they slipped out of their accepted jargon.

There is always somebody that doesn't understand that the Warp Scale WAS redrawn in the last TNG episode.
BUT, Voyager fucked up everything when they reached Warp 10. Another B & B screw up that shows they really don't understand shit when it comes to Trek. 10 was supposed to be unreachable.

Either that or Q made the whole thing up as a giant illusion to teach Picard yet
another lesson and he goofed up this one small part of it.

Didn't they hit warp 11 in a TOS episode? The one where the ship was hijacked by extra-galactic aliens headed home to the Andromeda galaxy?

Frank Hipper: The TOS warp scale wasn't capped at warp 10.

Agreed it was a horrid insult.

Ignoring that travesty of a Voyager episode, Warp 10 was supposed to be infinite speed on the TNG scale, and would require infinite energy to attain. So it's not possible to go faster than Warp 10 on the TNG scale. In order to give the writers a loophole, one you pass warp 9, each successive fractional warp factor is worth exponentially more than the last one. You can hit 9.0 and then just keep adding 9's after the decimal point. In TOS, the warp scale was different, so for example warp 8, at which the E-nil was in danger of flying apart or blowing up, was only warp 6 on the TNG scale. In one TOS episode, where they encountered the Nomad probe, the probe "fixed" the E-nil's warp engines so the ship was doing warp 13. Scotty and Captain Kirk were horrified, but it should be noted they didn't turn into lizards.
Now, in AGT, both the Pasteur and the E-D go at warp 13. I think the answer is pretty self evident: they recalibrated the warp scale so warp 9.999something becomes warp 11, warp 12, warp 13, etc. They'd probably cap it out one or two warp factors beyond what's attainable by forseeable technology, so they wouldn't have to recalibrate it every few years. Since a hospital ship easily did warp 13, it's probably higher than this.
That leaves us with Voyager and its lizard mutations and whatnot. We have several possibilities:
1. The whole elaborate warp system developed by Sternbach and others for TNG was never actually explained on screen, so it's not canon. Warp 10 is more akin to the sound barrier than the light barrier. The suspension of disbelief and canonicity rules followed by most vs. debaters would probably require this solution.
2. Janeway, Paris, and everyone else working on the Warp 10 experiment is a total idiot. This is very possible, considering Voyager.
3. That Voyager episode is simply too stupid to be canon. Alternately, the whole series is too stupid to be canon. Either one works for me.

In more than several occasions, you can hear Janeway ordering them to go to Warp 11...

B&B reduced the characters to an intellectual level that they can relate to.
Edit: IOW, no good reason whatsoever. Just a whole spew of technobabble.
