Whoa
Just saw that episode of TNG where Picard is captured by the Cardies and tortured, and all I can say is whoa! Picard must have the biggest pair of nuts since Kirk, lol, because he went through hell and never broke, even at the end. I also saw why so many people like Jellico, the guy was brilliant. He managed to force the Cardies invasion force to retreat and get Picard back, and he didn't even have to shed any blood on either side.

Mind you, nobody was hacking his fingers off, sticking knives into his testicles, or ramming heated blades up his ass. Old-fashioned brutal torture would probably have been more effective; in the history of the Catholic Inquisitions, not one person failed to break.

The problem with that form of tortures is you can litterally get any answer you want. Shit, I would admit to killing JFK if I was tortured that badly.Darth Wong wrote:Mind you, nobody was hacking his fingers off, sticking knives into his testicles, or ramming heated blades up his ass. True; nobody could possibly retain the ability to think rationally under such treatment.Alyeska wrote:The problem with that form of tortures is you can litterally get any answer you want. Which is why so many forms of torture for information don't involve huge amounts of pain but rather confusion and sleep deprivation.Darth Wong wrote:True; nobody could possibly retain the ability to think rationally under such treatment.Alyeska wrote:The problem with that form of tortures is you can litterally get any answer you want. Psychological torture is better for extracting information. If you just want to inflict suffering, maybe get your victim to admit to outlandish crimes to justify executing him, physical torture is the way to go. With physical torture, you usually end up with the victim telling the torturer whatever he wants to hear, rather than real information.

You forgot the Wheel, Jacob's Ladder, the Rack, the Post, the Spiked Chairs, Iron Maidens, Spiked Collars (spiked on the inside)...medieval torture devices could be quite nastyDarth Wong wrote:Mind you, nobody was hacking his fingers off, sticking knives into his testicles, or ramming heated blades up his ass. David Warner also played Sark in Tron, and voiced Rais'algul (I don't know how it's spelled) in Batman: The Animated Series.
Man, I'd practically give anything to see him in Episode III. As a Republic/Imperial officer, senator, whatever - I just really want him in it...

Something I didn't like about that episode was Data wearing a red command uniform, he just did not look right in that thing. Also, how could Riker be a better shuttle pilot than Data, who could pilot a shuttle almost flawlessly. One of my favorite parts was when Jellico told Riker that he basically sucked as a First Officer.

speaking of tron, did you ever see the simpsons halloween episode where homer got sucked into the virtual reality world and tried to describe it by asking "has anyone seen the movie Tron?" and they cut to every single charector saying no.Spanky The Dolphin wrote:David Warner also played Sark in Tron, and voiced Rais'algul (I don't know how it's spelled) in Batman: The Animated Series.
