Getting around the Prime Directive

Lets suppose Skywalker and company come through the ubiquitous wormhole linking the two galaxies yadda-yadda-yadda, and discover transporter and replicator technology ( strictly for moving around cargo...really! ). Starfleet realizes this would be introducing unknown tech and promptly invokes the Prime Directive.

Fine...no Tech from the UFP.

Hey...these Ferengi over here have the same Tech and are willing to sell it: they don't have any Prime Directive.

Would Starfleet simply allow Skywalker and Co. to go about their business elsewhere, or force them back to their side of the wormhole, their ignorance intact?

If they got this tech from the Federation I'm guessing this would be stealing... I don't think the prime directive covers this.

1. The Prime Directive only applies to pre-contact civilisations. (sometimes interpreted as pre-warp).

2. The SW galaxy already has technology SO far beyond what would be considered 'developing' by the most fucked up federation nutter that it would be ridiculous to think it applied.

3. The Ferengi will sell anything to anyone. Especially if it pisses the Federation off.

Full blueprints for a transporter and warp engine in excange for, say, a few hyperspace capable freighters?

The Ferengi are better traders then that. I'll bet theyd trade them for the blueprints for a hypermatter generator.

A piece of technology with no real advantage that would take years of capital to put into practice or a trading fleet that could reach any point in the galaxy, with valuable cargo, and without interference from meddling human types, in a few days for the price of hiring a crew and retraining in astronavigation....

Which one looks like the better profit mafrgin?

The Reb trade all of the technology for one lousy Corellian Corvette.
