Ok, in The Undiscovered Country, they showed the Federation President, but I've been wondering for awhile, what race is he? He looked like a Klingon, he had the same type of mustache Klingon males (and some females ) have, and I believe he had what resembled headridges. So, does anyone know what race he was?

One of the various random Star Trek races that have appeared in the fims, never to be seen again.

Wouldn't it be a hoot if he was a Klingon? Think of the insane irony of it, the Feddies president is from a race that they consider to be their mortal enemy.

Actually, it wouldn't make any sense, as it was still during the Klingon Cold War. And stylistically, it'd basically invalidate the whole theme of the film.

I don't recall these head-ridges. I thought he just looked like he had hippie hair.

I haven't seen the movie in a while, so I could be mistaken.

I read the Novelization of the movie; the author identifies the President's species as Deltan, same as Lt. Ilya from ST:TMP

Apparently, only the chicks go bald.

How does the novelization stand in terms of canon?

He was the same kind as that navigator dude on the Saratoga at the start of ST4.

He had ridges, but they were more horizontal whereas Klingon ridges were more vertical. I think they reused that set of ridges in VoY but I could be mistaken.

On a related note: Does anyone else find it odd how the Feddies and the Klingons became so buddy buddy with each other so quickly after being enemies for so long?

That's another thing, I always thought the Kitomer accord created peace between them. Then, they throw this "E-C is destroyed while defending a Klingon outpost from a Romulan attack, so now the Klingons and Feddies are buddies" thing at us.

Well, that's because "Yesterday's Enterprise" was made about three years before Star Trek VI. And who's to say that relations didn't weaken a little over time.

Klingons are unreliable allies. DS9 proved that. They can be your buddies one minute and hate you the next. The only thing that kept them in line was the Dominion threat.

The only thing they can be relied on is to recite their rhetoric, "They have no honor."

Im just suprised he didn't call the Romulan ambassador a dumb-ass...

If he's Deltan, how does he cope with the intense sexuality thing that Deltans have, as evidenced in TWOK novelisation & TMP...?

He looks more like an ancient Chinese kung fu master than a Delten to me...
