Excellent as always, and the little hint of things to come for All Good Things leaves me keen for more. Those last scenes with Q and Picard remain some of my favourite scenes in Trek, I'm really looking forward to seeing them reviewed, favourably or otherwise. Rose coloured glasses of nostalgia can be broken! Roll on more ONGEG!

I think the next Q episode after this was Tapestry, not All Good Things.

Good work as always. And best of all, you make people think about the content of the episode with these reviews. What was and what might have been.

What's been little touched-upon is how Picard, who's had no problem with letting whole peoples die under the "superior morality" of the Prime Directive, finds that whole argument now turned against him with the "superior morality" of the Q Continuum and whether or not a young woman will be executed in its name. I know it's a minor aspect of this particular story but a rather interesting one nonetheless.

Btw how many Voyager(or Trek in general) episodes could be summed but as "good idea, bad execution", like these episodes?

No, what is missed is the fact that they had two consecutive warp core breaches. What the hell? This is incompetance above and beyond the Starfleet norm- how the heck did they almost kill themselves, with no outside kick twice in such a short amount of time?

Aw, c'mon Chuck, Rascals was fun. Sure, the premise was very silly, and it stomped on the Law of Conservation of Matter extremely hard, but it was executed surprisingly well, with a couple of really amusing little touches (such as the young Picard running his hands through his hair at the start of one scene). It's certainly leaps and bounds better than the one where Barclay becomes a spider, at any rate.

The second incident was not a Federation warp core, but a Tagran reactor of some sort that was damaged in a storm.

You missed the part where Amanda uses her funky magic power to stop the core from exploding the first time? Or how she uses it a second time along with cleansing the planet which is the reason she has to go back to the continuum?

2:05 we see the warp core explode and her stopping it from killing them all.
6:03 we hear Soonenburg talk about how

You see the reactor Riker and Geordi are at is going to explode and they can't be beamed out so Amanda uses her powers to stop it and wipes away all the pollution

Sorry- it has been a while since I say the episode- I was going off the video.

I didn't mention the details of the breach because they weren't relevant to what I was saying, and with the larger than normal examination at the end I had to cover the highlights as fast as possible to fit it in under eleven minutes.

Sorry for derailing the thread. Trying to steer back on topic, how did Amanda become a Q? Her parents were Q's who choose to be human- does it carry on somehow, was it given to her by Q or am I missing something?

Must be one of these things where the writers decide that it simply is that way and don't care for the "why" and "how". I for my part don't think they wasted any thought on that.

Anything is better than "Genesis" (well, excluding VGR's "Threshold", of course).

"Genesis" was a Jump the Shark moment for Brannon Braga and introduced to Trek more of the cod evolution bollocks that reached its crescendo in "Threshold".

Braga also co-wrote the weird and boring "Sub Rosa" alongside Jeri Taylor, although on a brighter note he penned "Parallels" (one of my favourite TNG episodes), I didn't mind "Phantasms" (I enjoyed it more than "Gambit"), and he co-wrote "All Good Things" (the only Trek series finale I genuinely liked, though Braga must've concocted the slightly ridiculous "anti-time" BS). "Cold Fire" and "True Q" both got the reviews they deserved, and while not aggressively awful episodes, they were little more than just adequate, although I give "True Q" a 6/10 since the guest character did not particularily bother me. I thought "Rascals" was harmless fun as well.
