Didn't we have a thread about this already?

I still think its shitty and would make no sense in universe.

I don't know, as much as I despise Boobyprise, I didn't have any problem with the actual design of the ship, except of course that it would fit better in a time period closer to TOS. I heard that the effects crew wanted to have a Daedalus class, but they were overruled.

Anyway, I think its a bit to much for an refit, but not bad as a ship using similar components; sorta how Reliant shared components with Enterprise.

It would have made more sense than the Akiraprise, even if not like having the direct predecessor of the Daedalus and the first USS Daedalus appear being built in the last season (possibly the very last episode with the start of the Earth-Romulan War)...

Why does it have two deflectors now?

The Ent D and Voyager have 2 Deflectors, one main and one on the front of the Saucer for Voyager, and on the Ent D there's one on the underside of the saucer.

But those ships are both much bigger than the NX.

I still say they should have called both the ship and the show "Pioneer" and used this design.

As well as of course abandon such silly concepts as "Phase Pistols" or "Phase Cannons" as well as "Spacial Torpedoes" and just call em Lasers and Nukes, as well as not make em look and sound like TNG Phasers and Quantum Torpedoes ffs.

I like the deck configuration being front to back, with the "top" decks at the front of the ship and the "lower" decks at the rear.

Heck I don't think they would have had to make the interior sets look any different, aside from the displays that show the shape of the ship.

If they had done all that, and had better writing, then hearing the song "Faith of the Heart" may have had the more desired effect rather than making me feel physically ill.

While blueprints are generally not canon, a lot of them do show secondary deflectors, especially on larger ships that have multiple hulls. I'd have to go back and check, but it may be derived from something in the original Enterprise blueprints.

It does make some sense to have a measure of redundancy though, especially with the deflector serving as a sensor and communication cluster as well.

Presumably because a new deflector design was developed they thought would be more useful to Enterprise?
