How did the So'na get off that rock?
How did the So'na get off that planet in ST: Insurrection? Did they have old ships standing aorund in space for all those years - evidently quite a number of years, too.
And if they wanted to live forever, why didn't just build a nice technological base on the other side of the planet?

I still can't get over the fact that Despite not using technology for a few hundred years the Baku still remember how to use it AND they remember it well enough to fix Data despite the fact that he was created using what was probably a very different technology from their own.
And this is why you don't watch anything produced by Ronald D. Moore after he had his brain surgically removed and replaced with a bag of elephant semen.-Gramzamber, on why Caprica sucks

Ok, I actually liked this movie, if for no other reason than it gave us some real action, and the actors were performing at their best.
Plus, it wasn't so bloody awful serious all the time. The actors had some real fun in the roles, and I always enjoy seeing that. Its not up to ST: First Contact, maybe, but I still liked it. I ignored all the social stuff and concentrated on the phaser blasts, explosions, and stunts.

Yeah, I found it easy to ignore the flawed logic/bad plot+writing and enjoy it. Especially watching Data toss people around (And the look on Worf's face when Data didn't lock up the first time was priceless [on the shuttle] ). I was able to enjoy Nemesis for much the same reasons: the actors were, well, acting well, having fun, and there was lots of pretty good action.

Another flaw in this stupid movie.Darksider wrote:Darth Pounder wrote:My guess is that they had some ships stashed somewhere on the planet and simply repaired them. Afterall even the farmers in the villiage remembered how to fix a posotronic brain. As for why they left, a simple answer is revenge.

Well the particle thingy's that made them immortal also improved their mental attributes (Troi's comments about the kids, Picard feeling revitalized Etc.), so I don't that that is all that bad.Darksider wrote:I still can't get over the fact that Despite not using technology for a few hundred years the Baku still remember how to use it AND they remember it well enough to fix Data despite the fact that he was created using what was probably a very different technology from their own.
Remember the fact that they didn't FIX data (Gordi had to do that) they just figured out what was wrong with him. It's simple enouph.... if my car wasn't turning on I'd know that it was because the engin was broken. THis is the same thin just feuturised.

If they're immortal, perhaps they have really good memories as well.
As to the Sona, I figured that the "effects" of growing up on the Baku world gave them a "store" of the technobabble energy in their bodies, so they would appear immortal for awhile.
Hence why they could venture out and "die slowly." They're obviously very old as well, they just looked terrible (having used various medical treatments to try to stay ahead of the time crunch on their aging bodies).
Reminds me somewhat of the "phage" infected aliens in Voyager now that I think about it. Was that one made before or after?

They did point out that they had strong strength of mind and were highly intelligent at a young age.

The novelization of Insurrection ( though not canon, I know ) points out IIRC that the Son'a weren't "evil" when they left the village ( though Ru'afo was somewhat disturbed even at that time ), and used some ancient ships to leave ( Hidden Evil has some ancient Ba'ku ships hidden in the ground ). They apparently managed to artificially duplicate the radiation thing, but in the end it nearly killed them ( sterility and accelerated aging due to tremendous genetic damage making them depedent upon their technology ). When they returned on the planet to seek revenge and heal, the Federation was around there. You know what happened next.
