Trek on TV

Post by Darth Fanboy »

ST5 versus STG on television right now.... but which is worse? The worst movie featuring the TOS crew, or the movie that horribly destroyed the greatest character the Trek Franchise ever had.

(side not, Battlefield Earth is on right after ST:G on Scifi)
"If it's true that our species is alone in the universe, then I'd have to say that the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little."
-George Carlin (1937-2008)

"Have some of you Americans actually seen Football? Of course there are 0-0 draws but that doesn't make them any less exciting."
-Dr Roberts, with quite possibly the dumbest thing ever said in 10 years of SDNet.

Killing God, verses Kirk dying by falling off a bridge. Damn, tough choice. I felt both robbed me of prescious hours of my life.

Well since Kirk was my hero, and God in a cloud of gas wasn't, I'm gonna have to say ST:VII was worse.

Both movies where equally terriable, and equally insulting to people like me who grew up on TOS and TNG.

ST:5 versus ST:G?

That's like asking if I'd rather be shot in the head with an M-16 or an AK-47. Both are incredibly painful and I wouldn't watch either of them if I had any choice at all.

AK-47 would be my choice. Bigger bullet + greater KE = Swifter death.

Laughably easy. Star Trek 5. At least it's a fun movie, and at least they're actually "boldly going". Picard? He's just being angsty about getting old. Big deal; Kirk did it better. At least 5 offers something new; the plot for ST:G is just another goddamn TNG episode, only with shittier battle sequences. Christ, what is it with the TNG movies having the lamest battles?

Generations was better, simply because we finally got to see
Kirk meet Picard, Although I was Spock had been in the movie as
well.

Only issue would be which movie to watch the first 15 minutes of ... that's the only part of GENERATIONS that is worthwhile -- the 23rd century prologue.

Of course, I'd taken Trek 5 over GEN every time (I'd take trek 5 over pretty much any Trek movie except TMP and Khan and on certain days, ST 6.)

NextGen should have saved that THE CHASE episode and done that as the movie ... make a movie that is ABOUT something, but give it the proper scale (which the ep suffered on.)

AK-47. it has full auto, thereby making it harder to botch up the apparently easy task of shooting yourself in the head...

I will have to say ST:G was worse. At least ST:V tried to be a comedy instaed of an ST movie. It made me laugh... form time to time.

Star Trek V wins slightly but only because it had McCoy and that alone makes it superior to any Post TNG Trek movie.
