Is Q a ripoff of Mr.Mxyzptlk

Even though I like Q as a character, and how he pisses off those pompous, 24 century Starfleet officers(except Sisko), PC thugs. The concept of a semi-omnipotent prankster seems so unoriginal. Q and crew are a knockoff of Superman's nemesis Mr. Mxyzptlk. Who is always pissing Superman off every now and then, and he gets in trouble with his superiors and gets his powers removed and then restored.

True, Q is hardly an original idea, but superbeings toying with us mortals is hardly a new thing in fiction. The Greek gods for example dwarf Mr. Mxyzptlk in terms of age with a few millenia.
Incidently the modern Mr. Mxyzptlk made his first appereance in 1987, the same year as TNG featured Q for the first time. Just a coincidence?

Ah, my old nemesis Mxy. Maybe Picard and company never realized that they had to get Q to say "Q" backwards.

Hah hah, that would have made Picards life alot easier, assuming it's possible to say Q backwards.

Phonetically it sounds like uk. With a long u sound and hard k or whatever it's called.

True, but the character dates back to the 1940's.

Picard: "You think you are so powerful, Q, but you cannot even match me. Let me give you a challenge."
Q (sneer): "Please, what could a barely sapient primitive lifeform like yourself best me at."
Picard: "I challenge you too make a monkey sound!"
Q: "Ook ook! *begins to disappear* Ah, crap! You've won this round, mon capitan, but I'll be back!"

Yes I know, 1944 Superman #30 to be a bit more precise, that is why I said the
modern Mr. Mxyzptlk.

The ARM has it!
And next time round:
Picard: If you are so all knowing Q, then do you perchance know the name of the capital of Greenland?
Q: you are so easy mon capitan. Thats
Nuuk obviously (starts to fade), oh no, you did it to me again, but you won't fool me next time.
Anyway could it not be the same entity?
Q is supposed to annoy a great many races throughout the continuum. If one of them happens to be called "DC"...

Nah...Q doesn't quite have the odd flair and I've never seen Mxy interested in any earth woman(and if so...he'd have more taste then Janeway...Wonder Woman at least...but Janeway, urgh.)
And also Mxy has been married for a long time.
Beside the thought transdimensional came around Superman #50...and even then people surmised that one.

Considering the pronounciation....Q backward sounds like 'weak'......more evidence of Q weakness...

One question, is Q really screwed up? He did try to get Janeway to do him.

Yes, he has to be screwed up. He obviously contracted the same Voyager-stupidity disease that the Borg seemed to come down with.

Q was desprite, he needed someone to willingly mate with him in order to create progony to save the continuem during its civil war.

God, what a stupid episode. Pussifying the Borg was not enough; they had to go into the Q Continuum (a dirt road) and then they had that stupid ass civil war episode.

If he is that desterate, then he should have gone for Seven and gotten some fun out of it.

Yea, but he could gilt Jainway into having sex to save the universe but Seven would never fall for such petty excuses

Puting the words Janeway and sex in the same sentece just isn't right.
