Mirror, Mirror on the wall....

Who here remembers the Mirror Universe from that one TOS episode? (everyone hopefully) If so, wouldn't it be cool to have the Mirror Universe show back up during the TNG era of Trek? By that time the Miror Trek would have presumably progressed to a level equal to or better than TNG. Combine that with their militaristic attitude and you would have one hell of a fight. Any opinions on this?

I once heard an audiobook (that what they're called?) of TNG involving the mirror universe. Involved an alternate Picard, Riker, and the rest of the crew.

Some cool changes were that the Klingons and Romulans too, I think, were all conquered by the Empire (Worf is a slave, and the good Picard talks some inspirational stuff to him) and the Borg were on the run too I think.

Best line from the audiobook:

The good Picard is pretending to be the bad Picard on the alternate E-D. Bad Riker wouldn't give up the captain chair so good Picard goes up to him and says,

"Now get out of my chair before I have Mr. Barclay here shove his phaser up your nose and see how dirty it is." :D

It also popped up a couple times in DS9 with Kira the sex-freak and her hubby Worf.

Mirror universe is much better than standard trek universe. Hence my fan fic and avatar. :D ;)

Only TNG era mirror universe book I know of is Dark Mirror. Pretty good read if a little technobabbilsh in spots.

Thank the gods that it never showed up in Voyager. Well actually, we sort of did see one in that society's holodeck thing. That was actually a very very good one. Possibly the ONLY good voyager episode.

Living Witness I believe. Good mostly because everyone was dead except the Doctor.

That was exactly my opinion of it the book. :D

The Klingons and the Romulans were both conquered and the Enterprise-D had a bunch more weapons onboard including a bunch of stuff the Romulans used to use. The warp core was more powerful and Troi was a twisted sadistic bitch.

The book would be Dark Mirror, which was adequate, at best. The conflict is basically solved by technobabble.

That was more of a "revisionist history" episode then a mirror universe episode.

´

In that one, I think that a Cardassian-Klingon alliance has enslaved humanity.

And there was a suspiciously Star Wars-like rebellion going on.

Shatner had some interesting ideas on the Mirror Universe. He, with a lot of help from the Gar-Stevens's, wrote a trilogy based on the Mirror Universe, how it got there and where it was going.

The main cast, when they had parts, performed above their usual level, and giving the best actor on the show nearly all the screen time really helped. It's one of the only Voyager episodes that deserves to be counted among the classic Trek episodes (Scorpion parts I and II MIGHT also deserve a space).

Kira is a minor figure. Troi is married to Worf in the mirrior universe.
