An improvement to Starfleet infantry type opperations

How would things have gone in the Dominion War if Starfleet fielded units like Hazard Teams with both the technology and training. In this instance they had fairly large numbers of these teams. Not enough to replace their ground forces, but enough to station them on ships for forced boardins as well as large groups of special opperation teams for assault duties and use behind enemy lines?

For the purpose of this we are using the Elite Force 2 stuff. They have access to modified and improved weapon systems. Soldiers have personal shields. Personal transporter buffers give each soldier the equivilant of a bottomless rucksack. That means a single soldier can tote around over a dozen weapons along with all the other supplies they need. Totaly encased suits capable of being used in zero-G enviroments and vacums. Targeting displays that the soldier can see within their own vision that also gives critical information such as shield power and weapon power. Cross training in multiple forms of combat as well as stealth infiltration, medical, engineering, sabotage, etc...

I could see these soldiers having turned the war much sooner. Hazard Teams could be used to forefuly board Jem'Hadar ships and can be used for precision strikes against enemy ground forces to allow larger scale ground operations to commence. A large Hazard Team force could have held AR-558 easily.

Its really quite inefficient and stupid to issue individual troops more than two weapons or so. A dozen is wanking and retarded.

What it means is a single soldier can carry many if needs be. For the most part each soldier only carries three weapons, but when needed they can carry more. What is also means is that troops who are trained in support weapons (minigun, grenade launcher, photon launcher, etc...) can still carry a rifle and assault rifle for their own close combat. Last of all it means these guys can haul all sorts of stuff with them. Imagine a couple using this system to carry lots of bombs for sabotage or using it to exfiltrate things out.

Point taken. I was just wondering if you were suggesting it'd be efficient of a good use to have them have a dozen weapons.

If you can produce the weapons faster than you can train the people, or if you've got big-ass stockpiles, its less of a concern.

Hazard team is highly trained. They know about taking cover, firing at distance, using combined arms, using cover fire, etc... A couple Assault Rifle phasers, some grenade launchers, and the Tetryon minigun would have easily held the base.

So would having the Defiant fire a support shot from orbit as it left.

IIRC they had to go chase off some Jem'Hadar warships.

Yep, I belive they did. But it's still a pretty poor excuse for not shooting off a low yeild strike on the nearby Jem'Hadar concentrations to wittle down their numbers at least a bit as you break orbit.
