So, I was watching an episode today that had Seven receive some Borg parts from some alien race. When she remembered her Borg experience, it showed a bunch of drones standing around having a conversation! One was saying not to mess with the body of another drone because it was against the will of his speicies' god... Aren't they part of a collective? Wouldn't this be basically be like talking to yourself? I thought they share a collective mind. What is going on?

That was the episode where Seven encounters three ex-borg drones who were messed up because of Seven. Apparently, they crashed on another planet and were severed from the collective and were regaining their old identities.

But why would drones literally speak to one another?

They weren't linked together (yet). They were cut off from the collective and thus unable to communicate amongst each other through non-verbal means.

Oh... I just assumed that it was another continuity fuck up. Given the fact that it IS Voyager, I am sure you can understand why.

In "Unimatrix Zero" we saw the Borg queen actualy verbaly order a drone. It may have been a case of bad writting though.

I wish that too. "Unimatrix Zero" was one of the lowest points in star trek history. The war between the Borg and the Federation came down to a personal grudge match between Janeway and the Borg queen in that episode. It is so sad considering how cool and powerful the Borg once were. Makes me feel sad.

Soon the Queen will have to mudwrestle Janeway to raise the money to keep her cubes flying.

But an even more scantily-clad Seven more than makes up for that.
