Star Trek Nemesis Pool (No Spoilers Please!)

We all know that Star Trek Nemesis is coming out very soon. That brings me to get your predictions as to wether is will be a good movie, or a shitty one. If you have read the script, seen bootlegs, etc, your reply is not welcome. I simply want to know if you think Paramont will give us a First Contact or a Final Frontier for Christmas.

I hope it's good. Trek has a consistant record of even-numbered films being good.

I think it'll be easily as bad as Final Frontier or Insuerrection. The best of the TNG movies is only equal to The Voyage Home; fun and entertaining but nothing profound or especially memorable.

Although, I though ST:4 was just okay and the least of the even-numbered Trek movies.

I would say that I might be at best on equal with First Contact. However, since it's involving the Romulans, and is suppost to be the last of the TNG movies, there is a lot of room to have something profound and/or inspiring. I doubt however that Paramount will have the balls to risk making something special. I don't think the TNG cast will end their run with a movie as great as The Undiscovered Country.

The B&B-ification of Star Trek continues. There is no reason whatsoever to believe that this film will not suck monkey testicles.

Im gonna say 2 1/2 stars. The visual effects will be cool, but the story line will be the same old stuff of the tv episodes.

( natural materials will block transport, a warp core will breach, etc )

B&B aren't writing or directing this one (I think), so it may turn out better.

One of the B's has a hand in the story. Who knows how much that will affect its abundance or lack of suckitude.

True but they've systematically fucked over the trek-verse so it'd be hard to write something the equal of ST2 or ST6.

I would say 2 and a half stars. I don't think the movie will be
setting any box office records. From the commercials I am guessing
that this movie will, fan reaction wise, come in at a notch below
First Contact, which will probably be the best of the TNG movies,
and as everybody knows, it would be most difficult to make
anything worse than Insurecction.

I think that, like the Star Wars prequals (is this safe to say here? Oh well...) it'll be good, but suffer in comparison to what it should have been.

I'd say ***. May be fun, may even be worth watching a couple times, but not likely to be an outstanding movie in the series. I'd love to be proven wrong, of course...

Thats cruel and unusual punishment. yet strangley preferable to watchign this drivel. Even the "Exciting trailers" look lame.

I don't know, the Enterprise-E DOES fire its phasers everywhere to spot the cloaked ship instead of simply using treknobabble. That's one good thing.

However, the plot does not impress me.

I think if they're serious about this being the last TNG then they would've given the movie a last once-over before foisting it upon us.

If they can keep out the BLAH BLAH - [humanity's unique potential] BLAH BLAH [non-interference in crap we should be interfering in] BLAH BLAH [phase-decoupler trans-inducing warp-smear TREKNOBBABBLE] then it might be as entertaining (note that I didn't say GOOD) as First Contact.

I say ***1/2 stars, because I'm hopeful about this movie and that they got B&B locked in the Enterprise set. But how infected did the movie get by their touch?

I'd like to be an optimist and say that Nemesis could redeem the TNG movie franchise.

But to be frank, I have little reason to think that the TNG movies will ever amount to anything.

I also cannot see how one could regard First Contact as a 'good' Star Trek film, considering the plot is about as far away from Trek as you could get. (all action, and not even a pretense of thought!) Of course, if people think the mindless action of FC was the best TNG film work of all, I suppose that's saying something too.

I suspect it will a good movie but crappy Star Trek, like much of the franchise has become. Even though TNG was lacking on several fronts, it was often still thought provoking, and for me, that is the heart of good SF. That, or blow some shit up. Both, all the better (see T2).

I hear ya, man. FC was just some B movie zombie hunt with the Star Trek logo slapped on it. New Trek has never had any semblance of a hard edge to it. Its sad to see it try.

This one look to be maybe a two star(it's supposed not to written by B&B...like that's any true consolation) but looks to be above Highlander 2 or Batman and Robin.

Still could be wrong and this one may make me think Insurrection was a work of art.

A movie doesn't have to have STUNNING plot to be good. Action movies can be quite fun to watch as well. Yes, First Contact was action orientated, but it was still a good movie.

The action wasn't that great either. A bunch of people in dress clothes running around with their plastic toys in hand shooting at slow moving zombies who don't even look that scary. Sure it had some cute moments and a few good scenes where Stewart emotes, but overall this movie was too cookie cutter.
