Damn B&B! I came up with a MUCH better plot for Nemesis!

Several minutes of thinking and I came up with the idea of
keeping the Romulans as the villains, but deleting the Remans...

And keeping the Evil Picard Clone (TM) aka Skippy!

Who's the villain?

None else than a familiar face from TNG fans!

Commander Sela returns, and she is the one behind the
evil Picard Clone (TM)

It all makes sense - She fucking hates picard for sending
her mother back through time to be enslaved by the
romulans...and in my version, it's just a classic
Praetorial Guard Coup by Cmdr Sela to install herself
as Praetoress of the RSE.

The Evil Picard Clone stays, but rather as a supporting
character, created by Cmdr Sela to help her understand
her opponent Picard more (we keep the infiltration of
Starfleet origin for Skippy, but we make Sela the one
behind it, and he is merely kept around after the
infiltration/replacement of Picard is cancelled by the
Romulans....rather than being sent to the dilithium mines...

He is the exact opposite of Picard. Cold, Calculating....

After all....what better NEMESIS to overcome than yourself?
n. pl. nem·e·ses (-sz)

1. A source of harm or ruin: Uncritical trust is my nemesis.
2. Retributive justice in its execution or outcome: To follow the proposed course of action is to invite nemesis.
3. An opponent that cannot be beaten or overcome.
4. One that inflicts retribution or vengeance.
5. Nemesis Greek Mythology. The goddess of retributive justice or vengeance.
And the Uberwank Reman warbird is replaced by a massive Romulan
Star Empire Fleet that battles it out with an equally massive
Federation fleet for 45 whole minutes of pure action.

On other fronts, the entire Data clone subplot is also dropped, making
Data's death worth something....

And since this is a "Generation's Final Journey," I give all of the original
TNG cast key roles to play in my version rather than turning some of them
into mere throwaways, like Worf was in this one, and I delete a lot
of the goddamn infantile humor...

Actually, for a "Generation's Final Journey", I would expect something in the way of genuine character growth, sea change, and closure, much as we saw in ST6. A really big battle doesn't do that; it just rehashes DS9. And frankly, a really big battle done in Trek style would be even more infuriating when it is ultimately resolved by something like "using the deflector dish to repolarize the enemy's subspace field around his dreadnaught so that we can synchronize the field covariances of his aft shield with our forward phaser array and create a feedback loop which will build up pressure in his secondary phase transducer plasma conduits, thus causing ..." well, you get the idea.

Except the Really Big Battle is going to be written by ME ME and ME ALONE
with heavy nods towards Wrath of Khan...

And what kind of role does Worf have in NEMESIS? All he does
is growl and look unhappy about Riker and Troi getting married...

Goddamnit, the writers never even thought to make a comment
about how Worf was even fucking MARRIED for a while before
he lost his wife?!?

You're right. I can't end up but end screaming in agony over all the
wasted opportunites that the TNG Movie run was.....

We could have turned Insurrection into a character growth vehicle in the
same way that Generations was a character growth vehicle in a way
for Picard. I refer to the death of Picard's brother and his brother's son
in a fire during GENERATIONS' time frame, leaving Picard as the only
Picard left, and when he dies, so does the Picard line, a line that stretches
back to Trafalgar...

Insurrection would have been the Character Growth Movie that opens
up the way for the slam-bang finale of NEMESIS....

No offense Shep but a blind monkey could write a better plot for ST:N. But at least your idea has merit...moreso than out of the blue evil clone.

And oi Wong...that description hurt to read...my brain lost it for a sec.

As for real growth that would require research something I think is becoming a lost art for some in the entertainment business.

The sad part is, Paramount could have done a lot of research
quickly and cheaply by having throwaway usenet accounts
and posting to startrek newsgroups

Your idea for the plot of Nemesis sounds much better then what was filmed. I think fans would have been more excited about the movie.

Sounds good. The only change I'd make would be keeping the Scimitar and using it for the flagship of the Romulan fleet at the 45-minute battle.

The Scimitar is just fine. Its an ideal ship to act as a flagship. Its powerful, but more importantly its heavily shielded AND can fire while cloaked. Having Sela in it would be just fine. You can also get plenty of character growth by having a confrontation between Picard and Sela and past memories of Yar.

Why don't you write your idea as a script? In fact, maybe all ASVS and Stardestroyer.net can produce their own version of Star Trek.

I don't know the Scimitar, seemed like a stupid idea. It was too powerful, and was a bad plot device. Too much of the Plot relied on it. Without it there no movie. But I would keep in a Romulan ship that can fire while Cloaked.

Spock would be a MAJOR player in this.

I would start Nemesis out by having a Praxis type crisis cripple the Federation at the same time when they are trying to pusue peace with the Romulans, plus a Vulcan/Romulan Reunification. (It is believed that some Romulan faction who don't want peace might be responsible) By this point in time, most Romulans really want peace with the Federation, and in this time of crisis, the Feds reluctantly do so. Since the crisis the Federation mistrust of the Romulans have increased.

Sela, now out of favor in the Romulan Govt. Works to stop the peace and, to overthrow the Romulan Gov't, discovers a relic of theRomulan/Federation Cold War: One is a deadly Subspace superwepon (I don't know??) one is a being she found on Remus years ago, Shinzon Picards Clone who Picard has a telepathic link to Picard (I'll have to figure this one out), the Last is a Cloaking Device prototype that the Klingons gave to the Romulans in 2293. On a warship it can allow it to fire while cloaked (plus vast improvements).
Using the Remans, She begins her secret Uprising upon the Romulan Gov.

On the Federation side, Data is (promoted) Either in command or an executive officer on a New Starship (a sister class to the Sovereign Class. Maybe the Excelsior II, or Endeavor Class). Picard, has given serious cosideration in taking an Admiral promotion (a very good offer) and Riker is being promoted to Captain.

The end Result would be A Federation mistrust with the Romulans, yet the Romulans still want peace. That's all I have.

To steal someone else's line, Sela the incompetent was almost certainly shot after her master plan to capture Vulcan with one Warbird and a few thousand men failed.

[Homer] Your ideas are intriguing to me, and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter...but I think the movie still sucked. [/Homer]

Seriously, though, that would make a good fanfic.
