Some Trekkies refuse to accept reality: Nemesis is bombing

Check out some of the threads on Nemesis at the Trek BBS

From the thread: We can make a difference,,idea...will you help?
I was thinking that if we all went to the theatre at least twice then the numbers will improve and we can make a difference! Maybe B&B need to have some confidence and a reason to begin another series! Withe the infamous Will and Deanna...maybe?
No matter what we can make the difference! Let's make it happen..what do you say?

Any other ideas to help the franchise boom?

From the thread: Nemesis Might do Better Next Weekend B/C of LOTR
Think about it...
1) Droves of people will go see LOTR. There won't be enough seats for everyone, and since they're genre fans, they might go see Nemesis instead. That's LOTR run off going to NEM.

2) They might decide to make a night of it...see both movies at once.

3. Repeat viewings by trek fans. J.Lo doesn't have that.

4. Word of mouth. Go spread the word

5. Weather. It was horrible this week across the country, for the most part. Many just stayed home instead of bearing with the parking at malls (because of the holiday shopping) while it poured down rain. They will see it next weekend, instead.

This type of trekkie is in the minority.

Others are facing reality.

From the thread: How Dare You Expect Quality From "Star Trek" !
Who do you bashers of Star Trek: Nemesis think you are, huh?
What gives you the right to be dissapointed with this movie?

I mean, sure, its got at least 30-40 gaping holes in the plot. Sure, its premise is so absurd and pathetic it wouldn't even have been used in TNG's first season. Sure, it was directed with complete lackluster and void of flare. Sure, it was savaged by the critics. Sure, it lost to a fucking Jennifer Lopez movie. Sure, its a complete embarassment to the Trekdom.

But, godammit, that's not the point!

The point is the movie has the words "Star Trek" in the title and feature the cast of The Next Generation. *AND* it was put out by Paramount Pictures.

What more do you evil bashers want?

So go down to your local movie theater, plunk down your hard earned money, watch the movie and SHUT UP!

Because in the end, we people who blindly accept anything that Rick Berman plops out in front of us--are the ones who *SAVE* Star Trek.

Its you people who criticize Trek that are DESTROYING IT.
You're bad, bad, bad!

I actually loved ST at one time, now I'm just thinking let it die gracefully.

To do that would have meant ending the Franchise after DS9, the last watchable Trek. Now it's staggering along like a zombie, a gutted ghost of it's former glory. The only thing to do is to kill it before it spawns more.

Wait wait wait... they think that The Two Towers is going to *help* Nemesis???? My god, don't they understand how these things work? Nemesis is going to be murdered by Two Towers!

Despite the fact that the reviews are negative and the plot stinks, I *do* plan on going to see Nemesis.

In a few weeks

At the local $2 theater.

With a six pack of Sam Adams under my coat.

That is hilarious. The Two Towers is a large enough draw to thoroughly cripple the demand for the movie.

I also wanted to ask that guy WHY he WANTS another series, with a confident B&B at the helm. They don't need confidence. They need intelligence. They don't have it. They are losers.

I also like the people who say that word of mouth will save the movie. The word of mouth on this movie is that it sucks.

Let me get this straight. He expects a lot of people to see a three hour movie and then a two hour one. What the heck is he smoking?

He also expects people to be spending their entertainment money on not one, but TWO movies in a single day. That almost never happens.

BTW, did anyone get the feeling that this:

Was another one of those inspirational speeches in a comedy, where the speaker gets REALLY into his position, but no one else is moved in the slightest by it?

I think a lot of comedies have stuff like that. I remember a scene like that in A Knight's Tale.

And, didn't Sirtis say that she didn't want to keep doing ST?

B and B chose just about the worst possible time to release this movie. I think they might have been driven mad with anger by the way Roddenberry controlled TNG and are now extracting revenge by deliberately destroying his creation.

Hell, when Utsanomiko and I went to Spider-Man and Attack of the Clones, we them on two different days in a row because seeing them both on the same day would have been exhausting.

Seeing Nemesis right after The Two Towers is abso-fucking-lutely insane. That would mean speanding 5-6 hours at the cinema, and considering that seeing a LOTR film totally burns/psychs you out, I doubt you'd be even able to "enjoy" Nemesis

Besides which, after seeing The Two Towers, would anyone really WANT to see a movie like Nemesis? I mean, seriously. Movies like TTT and AotC really spoil you, so when you see something like Nemesis it looks like it sucks even worse than it normally does.

Here's another one from "Pathetic ways to help Nemesis succeed"
As you all probably know, Nemesis isn't doing as good as it should've been. Repeat viewings from fans will help but we need something more. If you have some way to energize the Nemesis BO intake, post them here.
Here are two ways that I can think of:

Buy tickets for Nemesis at every trip to the movies, even when you plan to see something else.

Trek fans has been labelled nerds for years. Bill Gates said once, "Be good to nerds. Chances are, you'll be working for one.". It is pretty likely that there are some really rich fans here. Well if you have a lot of money to spare, how about buying multiple tickets? A 400 seat theatre can be bought out for $2,600 (matinee) in South California. This ain't that much money to millionaires. I'm sure you won't be missing those three grands.
(I'd love to see the look on the theatre manager's face when they find out a 10:00 am Nemesis showing has been sold out on a Monday morning and only one person actually being in the theatre )
This is just getting sad. It used to be funny, but... damn.

Oh my God, now they're starting to sound like Scientologists.

For those who don't know, Members of the Church of Scientology would buy copies of L. Ron Hubbard's books in droves, then the Church would collect those copies and then sell them to other bookstores. Members would buy the books again, and the entire process would repeat several times, skyrocketing Hubbard up the bestsellers lists.

That is, until the authorities found out. Now I think any Hubbard book has been banned from ever appearing on any official bestsellers list.

I'm suprised B&B didn't release it the same day as TTT, judging by earlier acts of idiocy.

I don't know why those Trekkies accept that Nemesis won't be the biggest and best movie of the year. They can still see it 200 times over. Also, I agree that when they encourage people to see the movie several times just to bring in more money for the box office, they're quite sad.

Personally, I'd love to see Star Trek die off for another twenty years. It can be resurrected again, with a fresh series, in 2020. By then, B&B will have killed themselves since they won't be able to get any other job, and then we can bring in some new blood to run the damn thing.

Some of the TrekBBS posts on Nemesis and what's wrong with it echo comments made on this board.
At least not all trekkies are swilling the Kool-Aid.

Don't get me wrong, I loved Trek at one time but all of the bullshit has driven me away.

But I still think that Berman and Braga should be gut shot with a .22 pistol and left to die in the desert as punishment for what they've done to Trek.

I'd pay good money to watch that on film.

I myself haven't seen Nemesis but some of the comments made by those trekkies are just beyond stupid.

Personally I still like Trek, or at least some of Trek.

At least a few people there can face reality and openly state that the movie sucked and is doomed.

The rest to be shot, out of a cannon, into the sun

I would. I'd go to see nemesis and then watch TTT to recover...

But of course, Nemesis is not out here...

Alright that guy must be the dumbest person I have ever seen im my life. I am now less intelligent for reading that quote. My last exam is tonight and because of his idiocy I am going to fail. He is like a black hole, sucking the intelligence from all who approach him. Now please excuse me while I force my arm through my skull, and physically pull the stupid he has implanted in me out through my ears.
