What Trek's new series should have been
THis is just my humble opinion, and if I'm repeating someone, I'm sorry, but I'm new to this board.
Enterprise is canned.
B & B have one last shot at making a Trek series that the fans will like. What would it be about?
Personally, I sould like to see what happens to the Federation after Endgame and the end of the Dominion War, seeing as how they would become the top dog in the AQ.
What I would like to see:
Fighters on their ships(Delta Flyers or Runabouts), to help them in battle or scout things or help patrol the area
Since the UFP is now top dog, they can now say, "You will join us or your world will die, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA"
Big battles
What I would not wan to see:
Long-winded speeches on how humanity is becoming godlike.
Technobabble(the Voyager crew need muzzles)
Prime Directive(this thing just needs to DIE)
And thats what I would like, how about ya'll?(I'm a Texan)

Actually I think a war taking place in the period between TOS and TNG would have been nice. Get some military advisors and keep things consistent and "realistic". Introduce some "new" concepts such as assault carriers, support fighters, strike craft, troop transports, and fully armored ground armies and proper ground support.

Handcuff B&B and get the people who do Stargate to pitch an idea to Paramount, you never know. SG1 is making good money and Paramount likes that money.Cpt_Frank wrote:yeah as if we'd see that on Star TrekActually I think a war taking place in the period between TOS and TNG would have been nice. I think a new series should take place in the late 24th century, and feature a real war between the feds and the Borg. Voyager sissified the Borg. This new series should work on making them badass again, so badass that cubes fire something like fifty different torpedoes and beams at once or something like they should be doing, and actually show some tactical and strategic thinking for once.
And the Borg sends more than just one cube into the federation, and the Feds have to fight back with transphasic torpedoes, that batmobile armor, etc. (This series would take place after Janeway comes back to the Alpha Quadrant with all that nifty tech).

Civil War. Assination of the government. Seisure of power by traitors. Majority of Starfleet under their control. The first battleship in SF history the HMS Warspite (former USS Saratoga) must fight to reclaim Earth. Romulan attacks. Borg collapse and random assaults.

All in one series? That could go on for a lot of seasons...Grand Admiral Thrawn wrote:Civil War. Assination of the government. Seisure of power by traitors. Majority of Starfleet under their control. But I like it.
One other could be about what happened between TOS and TNG, the rise of the communist Federation.

Whatever you do, do NOT let B&B get involved. There will never be a good series produced by B&B.
Personally, I'd like to see a series focusing on a Romulan crew. We've had enough of the Federation, let's see some people who understand actual military strategy for a change.
(obviously, this series would not focus on the idiot who decided you could invade a planet with a thousand soldiers.)

data_link has resigned from the board after proving himself to be a relentless strawman-using asshole in this thread and being too much of a pussy to deal with the inevitable flames. Buh-bye.

Re: What Trek's new series should have been
The only way they could appease the trekkies now would be to televise their own suicides. They've made too much of a hash of Trek to want to see anything they had anything at all to do with.FaxModem1 wrote:THis is just my humble opinion, and if I'm repeating someone, I'm sorry, but I'm new to this board.

Well, we all love Star WARS, right?Uraniun235 wrote:This all sounds mighty unimaginitive if the only "good" plot arcs people can come up with for ST are wars... Dominion War, Borg War, Civil War...
OK, how about some unknown system in the Beta quadrant that only recently has achieved Warp? Nothing fancy, just with forehead-bumped-aliens discovering the galaxy and comming into contact to some pansy Federation, Klingon and Romulan (late in the SECOND season). Meanwhile, they are exploring (real exploring) the neighbourhood, getting to know the fellow aliens... And then they kick the Federation ass!

Interesting. The wimps rise to power...
And there could be a Romulan War series, a Section 31 series, a Borg Invasion series, a Romulan War (current date) series. A Alternate Universe fights the "real" one series...

The Federation has fallen with most of its fleet destroyed. It is now up to one man and one crew to stop the night and restart the Federation. On the starship...wait a minute that's Andromeda.
Actually, Andromeda if set in a more Trekish universe could be kinda cool. It involves cool fighting but it can be about more than that. To actual to something worthwhile.

About Section 31: I never reached that far in DS9 (the station that was showing it cancelled after the first season... ), what's so special about it? They're cloack and dagger, the Fed's version of the Romulans, what's so special about it???? (In B5, the conspiration was much more scarier...)And there could be a Romulan War series, a Section 31 series, a Borg Invasion series, a Romulan War (current date) series. Andromeda got shitty, because the producers wanted to dumb it down, it was getting to much inteligent... least common denominator. The Federation has fallen with most of its fleet destroyed. Hmm, that sounds pretty good but its been done before. Remember B5? That'll piss off the fivers even more, and you know as well as I do how rabid they can be sometimes.Grand Admiral Thrawn wrote:Civil War. Assination of the government. Seisure of power by traitors. What I'd like to see is a little of expanding on the plot of Insurrection. (Not the Son'A or Ba'ku crap, the bit with Picard growing a pair and standing up for his beliefs against that of the arrogant admiral and the fed council.) This of course, would lead to not just a civil war, but a quadrant war. The Klingons and Romulans getting dragged in by either wanting to expand territory or to back Picard and his gang...or for their own political reasons. (Yeah, its a LITTLE similar to B5's civil war, but it has enough differences that it would only be considered a rip-off by the most rabid fiver.)

A Romulan show would be nice. Perhaps an anthology would be better though. I mentioned that for a Star Wars tv show idea as well. As far as the invasion of Vulcan in "Reunification", the romulan plan was not to take over Vulcan. They only wanted to entrench themselves on the planet. A few thousand soldiers isn't a lot, but it probably would have been enough to cause a diversion (which I believe was their plan anyways) and facilitate an invasion of the UFP.data_link wrote:Whatever you do, do NOT let B&B get involved.
