Judging from the writing style clearly the person who has written this article is either a marxist ,(it means that he writes using the same prepacked writing patterns of Marx's followers, not like Marx, who was much, much, much, much, much, much more intelligent and understandable) or a "liberal" absolutely incapable to see beyond his/her own prepacked prejudices, probably learned by heart in some campus I would beg, which he/she believes constitute genuine critical thought, while everyone who disagrees with him/her is of course brainwashed by the capitalist big brother. He has his political agenda to carry on and this is of course
more urgent than thinking before writing. He does not fear to fall in the ridicolous when he depicts a bunch of pajamas wearing people flying over an
underarmed luxury liner as the epithome of the "US techno military".He saw an armed starship in the space and he began immediately to shout "imperialism,imperialism..." and then started to write his usual prepackaged stuff about how capitalists brainwash the masses .
To be fair he may say something of correct but you have to find it under the trash of "techno" he uses to fill empty space.
In conclusion I think that the person should go back to school and attend some history courses. He will be probably greatly surprised when he will discover that before the arrival of the europeans large portions of Africa and South America were already governed by empires,no more human than the european ones, or that even arabs had slavery or other politically incorrect stuff.
I could point out his politically correct racism but I think that mr Wong should be able to do the work much better than me.

This is the first Marxist critique of Star Trek I've seen. As with an unfortunate number of Marxist critiques, what valid points the author makes are almost completely obscured by the inescapable truth that the author is a raving loon.
It's not my place in life to make people happy. Don't talk to me unless you're prepared to watch me slaughter cows you hold sacred. Don't talk to me unless you're prepared to have your basic assumptions challenged. If you want bunnies in light, talk to someone else.

The point of Star Trek is to to extract a little money from a lot of people and deliver it into the pockets of a fairly small group of rich American frau...er...executives.

Next question?
Hey! There has to be some sacrifices for living in a capitalistic society.

That good is overrated?
Come on, guys, protagonists are not always good people. Have you ever read The Cask of Amontillado (Edgar Allen Poe)? The protagonist is CLEARLY a bad guy. A protagonist is just someone that the story follows, and an antagonist (in literary terms) is just an adversary that he faces. Most stories have both, and almost all stories have a protagonist at least.
