True, but it does tell us that reverse-engineering the technology of alien civilizations is right up their alley.
Because ummm....how again?

I mean 8472....constant encounters.

Nada, Zilch, Zero.

Extinction, and who pulls their sorry ass out of the fire?

A holographic doctor.

A FUCKING PROGRAM!

Alright, how long do you think it would take them?
You do understand that you have to have them first begin to understand the basic fundamentals of SW science, and we have no idea how long it took those people.

Let alone go "So let's give a race of beings who do nothing but assimilate, capture others for that creative spark"....how long would it take them.

I'd could say trillions of millenia...but who knows. But to give such a short period of time, when their destruction was on the line and they could not do shiut, does not speak well of actually understanding their own tech let alone alien.

Actually, that fit perfectly with their known motus operandi. They don't invent: they sit back and let other species do the work for them, and then they assimilate any interesting results.
Yep...because if Voyager wasn't there...when the FUBARed themselves...they would've been destroyed and the Federation would be wondering...so where exactly did they go?

Really, if they are that stupid, you have to wonder why the fuck should anyone consider them a credible threat on any level.

Junghalli, saying that the Borg assimilate technology and therefore can assimilate SW technology just as easily is a obvious non-sequitur. There is obviously no way to answer "how long does it take the Borg to assimilate technology". We don't even know how long it takes the Borg to assimilate Treknology, and even if we did there would be no correlation with SW technology.

There is no point even asking the question at all. And I do not even know why you brought up the "Borg get ISD" at all. It is totally unrelated to the thread and nothing to do with time travel.

Did I ever say that they could easily assimilate SW technology? No, I just said that 1,000 years seemed like long enough time to figure out how to replicate Wars power generation. I mean, for fucks sake in the time I'm giving them humans went from Midaeval knights to F-15s, if it takes that long for them to figure out how to produce a working hypermatter reactor I would hardly call that easy.

I was responding to Locutus's idea of having the Feds go back in time and give Wars technology to the Borg 1,000 years ago with the hope that they'll be able to eventually figure out how to replicate it.
Anyway, it wouldn't work. In a predestination universe the Borg would never get their hands on the stuff or just never be able to figure it out. In a many worlds universe you would at best create an alternate timeline where the Borg either puzzle over it for a thousand years and can't figure it out or worse, do figure it out and devour the galaxy. Even if the plan worked perfectly the result is that the Borg would eat everybody else alive and the outcome of the future Borg/Empire war would be of merely academic interest.
