Does the book make mention of the rebels wearing protective gear? Also, even with the weapons dialed down, they can still inflict a considerable amount of damage. I'd guess that to compensate for lower yield, they increase the fire output.

I'm still want to know what guns they specified.

And it's known canon that they CAN dial down guns.

So please...show that these were the MTLs and full powered blasts.

But in the end this Gustav's usual nitpicking for what I don't know....but it's the usual..."This isn't 200000000000 TT...thus the weapons can never do this!!!!!!"

Where is it said that they can dial down their weapons?

Since the Vong couldnt handle the bombardment it would mean that either it was full power or the Vong defense were weaker then usual.

And I never nitpick.

nitpick, I never said 200000000000 TT. :D

I'm sorry? What's that? You're too fucking stupid to read plain English? What a surprise. Calls for full power shots couldn't mean they have lower power settings.. They just say that for kicks.

You're a fucking worthless troll, you know that? You contribute nothing but showing you can't even fucking master English.

You want more BDZ examples? Dankyo, 'Scavenger Hunt'. Camaas, Thrawn Trilogy/Duology. And of course, the AOTC ICS, which trumps any bullshit you pull out on the EU level.

You lose. Good day sir.

... So anyway, yes, SW weapons have adjustable fire settings. It wouldn't be a long shot from saying that they can safely use dialed-down firepower to take out a target without affecting troops 2 km away. You don't always need multi-gigaton firepower to destroy a target.

It is, however, no small feat to set fire to large chunks of a continent. That bears repeating.

The difficulty of people at the temple surviving may require us to invoke the fact the Temple was apparently a hugely powerful Force artifact. Given it allowed Padawans to fling Star Destroyers across star systems, it is not entirely impossible it was absorbing everything thrown at it; charging it's battery, so to speak. This is the simplest explanation that explains the fact there's forest fires over huge areas, yet the detonations aren't slaying folks at the temple. And it is supported by the quotes about the temple resisting fire.

The action described previously is only a targeted bombardment, not a full BDZ.
But if the guns are 200GT+ then how can people survive km away? And not getting blinded looking.
Because tubolaser impacts don't behave like nuclear explosions. Tubolaser energy release is concentrated to small points rather than released outward over a wide radius as in an explosion.

The original ANH novelization states that the Great Temple on Yavin IV was made of thick, exceptionally dense stone capable of resisting turbolaser fire -- but for the Death Star, it would be "merely another abstract calculation of mass to energy conversion".

You are aware that only one shot was fired from each chingun at the shield generator during the scene in TESB where "maximum firepower" was ordered, right? Thus rendering this rebuttal of yours not only irrelevant but stupid? I can't believe all of the posturing and smart-ass remarks you're making over your obvious pride in this rebuttal which, as it happens, turns out to be shit.

Hint in case you're too fucking stupid to understand: saying that it's one or the other is ridiculous when we know for a fact that it's just one of them, and it's even more ridiculous when it happens to be the one that refutes your point about no power settings in the movies.

Well is there any evidence for "Full/max firepower" to mean "full/max firepower that this gun is capable of" instead of "full/max suited to this situation".

What you typed wasn't a sentence. It's gibberish. Learn how to use sentences, please.

Um, why would you even consider the possibility of such a varience of interpretation? That doesn't even make any practical sense.

Jesus, sometimes I become convinced that some of you people involved in these debates aren't even applying an ounce of rational thought or considering context, and instead are just throwing out random guesses for the pure sake of feeling like you're contributing to something...

In fairness, maximum firepower could also mean fire all the guns at the same time. Hitting the target with all the HTLs and MTLs at once has got to translate to way more firepower than, say, firing one MTL at the time.

I'm referring(As others explained, but was split..) to the ESB scene where Maximum Firepower is ordered for the chin guns of an AT-AT, and only one shot is fired from each. Therefore it couldn't be from refire. I also beleive a quote from Darksaber itself references Turbolasers to full power, which is quite ironic if I recall right, because it means our little Troll Gustav is showing he didn't read his source.

You do understand that quote about maximum firepower was to refute the thought that there are no variables in Turbolaser power right?

Just to make sure, one doesn't enter an argument without knowing why the second part was made and this isn't just staring at two quotes and taking them at pure face value.

During the Hoth assault, the AT-AT's were ALREADY firing all their fucking guns. Damn near every scene shows at least a few bursts being fired from the heavy chin blasters AND the fucking pintle mount repeating blasters. Blizzard 1 fired a grand total of TWO FUCKING BOLTS from the heavy guns when Veers order "Maximum firepower!". Please atleast familerize yourself with the material you're debating.

Where are the fucking medium turbolaser and heavy turbolaser turrets on an AT-AT walker, you idiot? An ISD's HTL turret is bigger than the whole goddamned walker and a sizable chunk of the ground that it's standing on.

Any one with functional eyes can watch that scene and clearly see that the AT-AT did NOT fire all of its weapons at the shield generator.
