As for the synthehol thing, there's a secret stash of Romulan Ale on almost every fucking ship in the fleet. It must be standard issue bootleg or something. Besides, a cut scene from Nemesis reveals that real wine is still being made the old-fashioned way, since Picard opens a bottle of Chateau Picard from 2235 or something.

Plus in Family we see a vineyard.

There seems to be a limited market for real rather than replicated foods and goods. The Restraunt on Earth in DS9, The Picard Vineyard, ect. But I wonder if the Picard Wine is only a family hobby or does it get around?

I doubt they're making gallons and gallons of wine only to throw it away and start over. The vinyard was way too big to be "just a hobby".

The markets for real food and drink can very easily be seen as an indictment against the quality of replicated consumables.

From what we see on the Enterprise they appear to make it appear the replicated food was just as good or better than the real stuff. Then there is Janeway and her coffee....

Picard once claimed the replicators couldn't produce caviar good enough for his tastes. The consensus always seemed to me to be that for most people, replicated food was plenty good enough; this makes sense to me given how many people seem to enjoy eating at McDonalds.

Although it's suggested that there are people who never really know anything better. Keiko O'Brien expressed shock and disgust at the notion that Miles' mother prepared and cooked real meat herself, so there could potentially be millions or even billions of people raised on replicated food.

However, given the extremely optimistic view of so many Star Trek writers, it seems unlikely that the replicators are putting out truly subpar food, so my guess would be that those who can truly taste the difference are a minority.

Err... we saw it on the Ent-A in TUC, where else has it been seen?

The USS Bellerephone (sp?) which had the amusing scene of Admiral Ross try Romulan Ale for the first time, commenting that he was one Admiral who obeyed the rules (a nice touch of juxtaposition there, given the eventual plot development in the episode where its revealed he and Sloane were in cahoots).

It's a joke that Rommie Ale is standard Federation bootleg, but really we've only seen it on two ships to my knowledge.

Wasn't there one TNG that had romulan ale been a long time since I seen the series. As for replicators didn't they replicate weapons in one episode might have been a book as far as I rember. I think replicators can make lots of different things besides food and ale. Also what about industrial replicators that are mention in several TNG and DS9 eps.

Of course there's going to be a market for naturally-grown food over replicated food, even if they're identical. I can't tell you offhand how much of the food I've eaten in the past year is "natural" or "GM", but I'm sure there are people who can.
