Could the Borg adapt to Force Lightning?

I believe that Mike has been playing too much Rome Total War. I mean, RTS games are realy addictive and command a 24 hour schedule.Robert Walper wrote:I fail to see how Roman-era legionaires would repel an orbital assault...Darth Wong wrote:I can never get over the idiocy of Borg wanking. You know, I grow really tired of your dishonest bullshit. You know perfectly well that I was talking about drones, asshole. Yes, but my point was the Borg do not beam down drones to combat ground personnel.Darth Wong wrote:You know perfectly well that I was talking about drones.Robert Walper wrote:I fail to see how Roman-era legionaires would repel an orbital assault...Darth Wong wrote:I can never get over the idiocy of Borg wanking. Any given amount of energgy (kinetic or EM) is going to have momentum, or did you not think that would apply? (Especially considering I just got done pointing out that the "lightning" still does physical damage.) Hence, Yoda's arm propelled backwards when he "absorbs" it.Robert Walper wrote:Connor MacLeod wrote: What the fuck are you blathering about? I'd love to see where this is established, then laugh at it. Because unfortunately, it's canon that the Borg love to engage with Drones. What's their battle tactic? Drop your shields then start boarding. We don't see them shelling ground troops, ever. The only time we see them bombarding, IIRC, is to hit the Phoenix, and the firepower demonstrated there would not destroy a Legion unless it was in parade formation. And even then, probably not.Robert Walper wrote:Yes, but my point was the Borg do not beam down drones to combat ground personnel.Darth Wong wrote:You know perfectly well that I was talking about drones.Robert Walper wrote: I fail to see how Roman-era legionaires would repel an orbital assault...

STVOY "Dark Frontier". The Collective attacked and assimilated over three hundred thousand individuals of Species 10026. Their tactic is to beam up victims into their ships for assimilation. Most likely stripping them of weapons and possibly armor during transport (which we know transporters can do).SirNitram wrote:I'd love to see where this is established, then laugh at it.Robert Walper wrote: Yes, but my point was the Borg do not beam down drones to combat ground personnel.
We've seen the Borg send scouts over to enemy ships. I don't recall any instance where the Borg beamed over drones unless not having a choice in the matter (ie: having their craft destroyed).Because unfortunately, it's canon that the Borg love to engage with Drones. Never seen them engage ground troops either, so that's a moot point. We don't see them shelling ground troops, ever.
But they didn't go beaming drones down to attack the personnel below, did they? The only time we see them bombarding, IIRC, is to hit the Phoenix, and the firepower demonstrated there would not destroy a Legion unless it was in parade formation. And even then, probably not.

Alright then. My previous point of view was in regards to the hurling of victims through the air and such. But since that can be attributed to TK manipulation, I retract my comments accordingly.Connor MacLeod wrote:Any given amount of energgy (kinetic or EM) is going to have momentum, or did you not think that would apply? The "hurling the victims through the air" was, as I pointed out to Yoshi, a "Force wall" type trick as mentioned in the AOTC: novelization. Nothing magical about it. (It may be a side effect of creating the "force lightning" - using TK to manipualte/accelerate the atoms in the air into a sortt of "particle beam" effect.)

Ok. Here is my take on the subject. Force lighting is suposedly the ultimate expression of the darkside and as sub is an emboyment of the destructive power of hate, pain, fear and agression. The borg clasify emotions as irelavent and as such can not conceave of them being a weapon let alone having any form of defence that can be "adapted" to shield against then.
Now a second point would be that force lightning is a pure force affect that attacks life itself and not anything physical. The visual effects seen in the film could actualy be the result of masive energy releases marking the destrection of bacteria and other free floating life forms in the path between the Sith Lord and target. Even the aparent inpact effects can be explained this way as a presure wave caused by the superheated air the the lightning creats. As a pure force effect the borg would not be able to defend against it as the borg are not force sensitve.
