ST/SW what if...

Post by Acclamator »

Premise:

In the era of the Old Republic for SW and a few years after the Dominion War for ST, a wormhole between the Gamma Quadrant and the SW galaxy opens up.

The Dominion start scouting out the other side, and by a process of buying and stealing, come into posession of full technical details and working examples of large-scale hypermatter reactors and hyperdrive units.

They then start outfitting their ships with hyperdrives and HM reactors. They keep their phased polaron weaponry, but upgrade it massively to be able to handle and throughput the kinds of power levels delivered by their new reactors. They do the same with their shield generators.

After 50% of their fleet has been thus upgraded, they launch a second attack on the Alpha and Beta Quadrants, (their newly aquired hyperdrive obsoleces the need for the Bajoran wormhole, so they simply bypass it and go direct to the AQ)

Is there ANY way the Federation/Klingons/Romulans can defeat the Dominion this time around?

Where they would get the Hypermatter I don't know but no the Dominon would have a much easier way of betting the Federation

I dunno.

Capture some person who knows how to build a hypermatter refinery and torture it out of him. Ya knows the Dominion is evil as fuck, they rival the Empire in that regard (evilness).

The Dominion are not as ruthless as the Empire. Out of ST they come closest, but in any case they still all die horribly.

Under those conditions the Federation doesn't have a chance.
The dominion could probably finance the purchases by strategic mercenary usage of their legions of Jem'Hadar, simply hiring them out as muscle in vast quantities.

The Federation barely survived the first round with the Dominion despite the bizarre interference of the beings that inhabit the wormhole.

I don't think you have to give the Dominion such a gross advantage. If those ships had simply made it through, the entire Federation would be Dominion colonies a year later.

feds and allies die, the dominion with it's superior numbers alone can simply swamp the feds and their allies, they can easily replace both soldiers and ships

Your scenario here, interestingly enough, mirrors part of actual history.

The Rise of modern Japan.

The opening of the wormhole connecting the Dominion with the far superior SW galaxy equates to the opening of then-feudal (tech similar to middle-ages Europe) Japan to the outside world and to the west, in the 1850s.

The upgrading of the dominion fleet with SW tech equates to Japan's modernising the fuck out of their military over the 50-odd years up to the start of the 20th century, importing and adopting new technology like mad.

And the outcome of the second Dominion War will equate to the Imperial Smackdown™ that the modernised Empire of Japan subsequently laid down on the rest of the Pacific Rim starting from the early 20th century (and including a naval war where they trounced Russia of all countries), and lasting right up until WWII.

So yeah, the Dominion with their new tech totally CRUSH all opposition and take the rest of the ST galaxy for themselves.

Maybe by the time the Galactic Empire rises, the Dominion will have all of the MW under its control, and the stage will be set for a huge, bloody intergalactic war between two galaxies both ruled by ruthless totalitarian goventments...

I forgot to mention that the dominion has one major advantage over imperial Japan over the same peroid, they don't have the huge resource disadvantage that Japan intially started out with. they already has almost as much terrority as the entire AQ alliance.

we actually don't know the full extent of the Dominion's territory, from the ship numbers they were throwing around they could very well be larger than the AQ alliance.

Just give the Dominion hyperdrives and they'll be able to squash the Federation. They don't need the uber-powerful weaponry or shields.
