Star Trek Invasion fighters
How would the one-man fighters in Star Trek: Invasion fare against any of the myriad of Star Wars snub fighters, interceptors, and bombers?

I think the point is that its area of effect is rather large and devestating, at least to what Trek ships generally use.Kamakazie Sith wrote:What if they ummm dodged it? Star trek is not so incompotent as to not be able to adapt to an obvious strategy after the first time it is observed. And the same applies to star wars fighters, which would also suffer badly from a seismic charge. I can't think of any other Wars weapon which has a noticeable area of effect beyond the immediate target hit.

To suggest that they are so incompetent as to be unable to dodge the effects of the seismic charge is quite extreme. I think we'd need to see some evidence that they wouldn't adapt to something which would be grossly ineffective against small fighters.frogcurry wrote:Star trek is not so incompotent as to not be able to adapt to an obvious strategy after the first time it is observed. Against starships the seismic charges would be very effective.

Agreed. It just wouldn't be against fighters. In fact, I think Jango was counting on the fragments of the asteroids to kill Obi Wan and not the weapon itself.Noble Ire wrote:I think the point is that its area of effect is rather large and devestating, at least to what Trek ships generally use.Kamakazie Sith wrote:What if they ummm dodged it? Sure, they likely would get out of the way of the Seismic mine wave.
As for the contest, really why are we having it? Unless we can see KT level weaponry on the Invasion fighters, and given they are of ST tech, somehow they are going to fare worse then blind TIEs.

I agree. Why are we having this? It's on par with the ST starships vs. SW Fighters. It just depends.Ghost Rider wrote:Sure, they likely would get out of the way of the Seismic mine wave.

It's probably worse because I seriously doubt there is detailed information on the STI fighters.

Since the weaponry on an Imperial starship can pretty well pulverize a Federation Starship with single hits. It wouldn't be too far fetched to say the weaponry on Imperial fighters will pretty well pulverize a Federation fighter. Thus I submit that Federation fighters would make excellent target practice. Get the pilot used to being shot at, tries to evade a little, changes speed, etc. Probability of success. Zero.

Correction: Star Trek Invasion (Xbox version at least) had detailed information for each of the Mirror Universe fighters at the back of the manual, these included approximate maximum speeds, and energy output of thier weapon systems.Kamakazie Sith wrote: It's probably worse because I seriously doubt there is detailed information on the STI fighters.
Unfortunatly, I do not have the book with me, seeing as I'm at work, and won't be home till middle of December.
Perhaps someone else who would confess to having owned the game for the Xbox of the PS2 may be willing to look.
