This Is the Assumtion I made as soon as the name "Mary Celeste" was mentioned. The Real ship had all of the working parts in a condition that indcated the crew dropped everything and left the ship in a hurry. They didn't even bother to secure their valuables or things like the log was simply left sitting open on the desk. So I figured the Star Fleet guys beam over to a ship that is running as if the crew had never left, implting the security sysems would not be at "battle" alert.IRG CommandoJoe wrote:The codes are probably all in there because the systems never shut off. So why would the ship's systems require people to punch in codes if the ship "thinks" the original crew is still running it? Not only that, but if the operating manuals are on the ship, they could figure out how to bypass those codes and all of that stuff considering the codes are already entered. And so what if they can't operate the ship's systems? They could just shut down systems, take apart all of the technology, and fit it to their own computers to run them. That is what reverse engineering is all about. Figuring out ways of taking someone else's technology to make it your own. Once they figure out how the turbolasers and shields and sensors and communications and all of that equipment works, they can make their own.
