It would require between five and six wedges in order to form an ISD to approximate scale with the GCS. Remember that a GCS is about six hundred meters long. An ISD is 1600 meters long. The ISD, however, does not have nearly the "empty space" that a GCS has, and it is also wider and taller than a GCS, so its volume is far greater even though its length is only a few times larger.
