I vaguely remember something about the V'ger cloud being a bunch of AU's in distance. An AU is 93 million miles, so it's at least a few hundred million miles to the center. Wouldn't the SSD have to go inside to hit V'ger?Darth Wong wrote:A group of Golan Arms battlestations could do it with their tractor beams, as we saw in VOTF. Obviously, the Death Star could do it.macman wrote:Maybe a better question (even if it is off thread) is what can hold an ISD?Given infinite time? That's hard to say, since the SSD has a prodigious shield recharge rate. But it's a moot point because V'ger would only get a shot or two off before being reduced to iron filings. Hundreds of heavy turrets firing blasts which are each in the high gigaton range means tens of millions of megatons of firepower being directed at one spot. Bye bye, V'ger.I was asking if the energy balls would even damage the SSD?
Since I can't remember anything about the movie and all of an SSD's capabilities, how close would they have to get to take out V'ger? I can't even remember if there's anything solid to hit between the edge of the cloud and the center. Would the energy ball thingies wear down the SSD before it got close enough for a hit?
I wish I owned Star Trek I so I could check all this and refresh my memory.
Wait, no I don't.
