He also seems to imply that being in the corona constitutes handling the star's full energy output.

I think I messed up on an argument, but I argued that while a star may give of more energy than a Turbolaser canon, I pointed out that energy is not the same as power, and therefore saying that since a Trek ship can be near a star, (or as he said it) INSIDE IT (yet he said it didnt matter how inside) since it can stand up to its energy, it is not the same as saying it can stand up to a TL bolt.

Yeah you fucked up, energy is power. You should've pointed out to him what Wong said earlier.

yes energy is expressed in Joules. Power is Joules per sec which is Watts.

Wow they are the same thing

200,000 Joules in an hour is only 55.55 Watts.

Get the idea? The same 200,000 Joules in one minute is 3333.33 Watts.

and so on. Energy is a far cry from power. They are related but are not the same thing.

Eh... my bad, still, you'd have been better off pointing out to him that the part of the Star they were in wasn't all that hot, in comparison to those times I've heard mention of a Star Destroyer hiding in the Coriolis of a Star...

Thats the problem with a lot of these dishonest internet debaters. The ENTIRE SUN puts out more energy than a TL but a ship sitting in its corona is only enduring a miniscule fraction of the sun's energy. Assholes like this try and mutilate what you said into something completely different.

By the way, the statement about sun > TLs only applies to the SMALL guns. The Death Star superlaser produces more energy in one second than our sun does in 7000 years.

He is also lying about Trek ships going inside an actual star. They go into the corona, not the star itself.

Which means power = energy divided by time. W = J / S

Its the same difference as that between speed and distance.

Yes, I saw that. I just thought he might like the actual equation.

The SW universe probably IS ours.

"A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away"

That makes absolutely no sense if it takes place in a completely different universe. Aren't differences in time and location from two different universes meaningless? But Ruinus is probably just getting his terminology confused, saying "universe" when he means "galaxy".
