A squad is standard eight soldiers plus one sergeant, for future reference.
The storyline is:
A force of fifty Federation ground troops is met in combat by fifty the same number of Imperial Army Troopers. Battle is difficult, and in combat all but twenty of the Federation soldiers are dead. Unfortunately, a Federation commander, in a moment of difficulty, attempted to wipe out the Imperials with an orbital strike. Almost eliminated, they withdrew. Before the Feds could be lifted out, however, their ship was forced to evacuate due to an encounter with a Carrack-class cruiser. The Carrack received orders afterward, and was to eliminate the surviving Federation forces to prepare for an upcoming occupation force. Overconfident as usual, the captain of the cruiser sent down only a Heavy Weapons squad.
Resources
Federation -- Twenty soldiers armed with fifteen phaser rifles and two power packs for each, ten phasers with one power pack each, five captured blaster rifles with three power packs for each, and five captured concussion grenades. They are bunkered down in a large apartment complex with firing holes in the windows. The apartment is located in a small town with several multi-story buildings located nearby.
Empire -- Eight stormtroopers and one stormtrooper sergeant armed with nine blaster rifles with five power packs for each, nine blaster pistols with three power packs for each, one E-Web heavy repeating blaster, and a small grenade launcher loaded with five high-explosive grenades.
My Synopsis
The sergeant directs his squad to move into the surrounding buildings. Five men will provide a distraction at the front, setting up the repeating blaster in a top floor of the building across the street. The plasteel armor will most likely provide some protection from the phaser blasts and concussion grenades, but the number of blaster rifles poses a larger threat. Fortunately, the limited ammunition for the Federation's captured weapons and inability to incapacitate the stormtroopers with grenades will force them to use their phasers on the highest power setting, quickly depleting the power.
As they hunker down to avoid the withering blaster fire, the remaining three men and the sergeant will infiltrate the building through a side entrence. If no side entrence can be found, they will use the grenade launcher to blow open the door to the apartments. Once inside, their armor, advanced vision capabilities, powerful weapons, and most of all their higher morale, will allow them to easily move through the distracted Federation and systematically enter the apartments and eliminate the soldiers.
Casualties for Federation: Full
Casualties for Empire: Most likely no more than three or four

This has been done. A million times. Elite marines are being put against glorified security guards. When professionals and amateurs decide to kill one another, the professionals win. Especially if they have vastly superior toys, which, in this case, they do.
Your ludicrous assumption that 50 goldshirts could defeat an equal number of Imperial Army soldiers, and your bizarre armament for the Stormtroopers (pistols?!) notwithstanding.

I never said anything about goldshirts almost decimating Imperial Army troopers. If you read through, you would see that they took severe losses from a short orbital strike from a warship. Also, the pistols are included as sidearms, and are to be used as such. They are indicated in the armament for posterity.Feil wrote:This has been done. A million times. What makes this scenario different is that I not only came up with a detailed backstory to provide reasons as to why a galaxy-wide military sent in one squad against twenty enemy troops, but also gave the Federation a bigger chance than normal by giving them captured weapons far superior to their own.
